    Hi everyone,

After a very technical challenge last week, we're returning to a more accessible subject: Nature. Nature is all around us, but we often are so caught up in our daily routines that we tend to neglect its immense beauty. Still, is we stop for a second to appreciate it, the chances for stunning photos abound.

@cdnfarmer is joining us this week to help with a few tips on how to improve your shots even further and bring them to the next level.

To make the challenge, well, more challenging, try to share pictures taken this week, rather than directly from the gallery. The idea behind this series is to invite you to go out and take new, amazing shots. And remember, it’s all about mobile photos.

The best 10 photos will be awarded 100 raffle points that can be used to enter raffles. You can read more about it here.

    Challenge Rules:
    - All photos should be taken with a smartphone, regardless of brand. Some weekly challenges may be specific to some OnePlus models, but the thread will be clear about it.
    - The photo should match the challenge's topic. Non-related pictured are not eligible to win.
    - Any photo shared by you should be your own. Any kind of cheating will result in disqualification in the present and any future challenges.
    - Each user can post up to 5 different photos each week.
    - While the photos are still yours, you allow OnePlus to use your photos for promotion purposes.

    Dear Photo Community,

Nature and the Handling the Phone.

In nature, there are many beautiful aspects that surrounds us. The trick is capturing them with a picture. Capturing the feeling and the emotions given by a scene (e.g. Forest of Sintra by Maarten Lisboa), different perspective, the colours, using the sun and the golden hour, finding the beauty in everyday life that surrounds us. Can see how nature carved a curvy line?

Or the beauty of the tree bark or the intensity of the light and how it influences an object.

A lot of it is observing what is around us and seeing nature with all its beauty.

Above I mentioned about some aspects to consider such as light, angles, perspectives etc to capture the beauty and feeling that the photographer gets from the area and translates it in the picture. For example feel free to review @Bouncer71 Contrasting Colours weekly challenge and @maarten_lisboa with the sunset. This week, I propose looking at nature and photography in a slight different way…

How you physically hold your phone...

When you take pictures with your mobile device, typically what method do you use to take pictures? Do you hold the phone in portrait or landscape orientation? There are many software adjustments (e.g. auto darkening or lightening the focal point, iso, shutter speed, focal distance, focus point etc) that you can make. However, have you ever considered how you physically handle the phone? Below are three physical techniques that you can use to alter the feelings or views associated with the image.

    #1. Tilting the Phone
Did you know that you can stand in the same spot and tilt the phone up or down and you will get a different view than taking the picture straight on?

    Tilting upwards

    Tilting downwards

    Straight onward

    #2. Landscape Orientation Camera Positions
Because on OnePlus devices and with the multiple cameras that are located on the top 1/3rd of the phone, you can use it to your advantage. For example in landscape orientation, depending on the side the cameras are, you will get a slightly different view. Below are two pictures taken in the same spot one after the other. The only difference was the cameras were on the left (first image) and then on the right (second picture).

Notice the difference? Hint: look to the right.. in the second picture, you will see more trees and only a very small point of the trees in the yellow canola field on the left as compared with the first picture.

    #3. Portrait Orientation Camera Positions
Did you know that you can also flip the phone upside down to either prolong a path or given a longer or higher height perspective? You can even get the picture closer to the object?

    Device held upside down.

    Device held right side up

Notice the difference between the two pictures of the path? They were taken at the exact same place and the phone at the same height. The only difference was the camera was on the bottom with the device flipped upside down (1st picture) and on top (2nd picture) in portrait mode.

Therefore, try turning your phone ummarize the idea of how you physically hold your phone, the above examples described are shown with these tree logs.

With these techniques your can alter the feeling of the picture (as described in the July SOOP). So this week, I challenge you to go out in nature and test altering the position of the phone tilt it up and down vs straight on or hold the camera a certain direction and see the differences that you can create or capture. Go explore nature and the beauty around you!

Have fun. Looking forward to seeing what you capture.
