Other Every app got outdated

    EXAWOLT, Apr 17, 2019 :
    Hi.

I recently factory reset my OPO, just like I usually do once or twice a year.
But this time, after reinstalling all the apps from Google Play, apps like Messenger comes in a version that looks like it's 4 years old, old emojis and all.
There are apps which I can't even install again, like the Linked In app.

I haven't modded it in any way, and it says it's on the latest patch, Andorid 6.0.1, COS 13.1.2.

I don't really have time to budge with this anymore.
    Anyone know what to do?

    buy a new device...
Base for the apps is an outdated OS... so there is no development and support for this outdated OS

Yeah... Coz the support for OPO stopped years back!!!
Try using custom ROMs or get a new phone...

But listen guys, the apps like messenger ran on the latest patch just before I factory reset the OPO.
The issue is that when I re-downloaded them they come in older versions. So why is that, and how to get around it?

I've done that, and when I go to the Messenger app in Google Play, the latest info says last update released 2016.
So probably I can only even view an older version of Messenger in the store, of which won't get any newer releases.
I've tried to open the link for the LinkedIn app and the latest Messenger, but as I open them in store, it say that the item is missing.

Might be some server-side trigger, independent of the version you have installed. Go to settings and check the app version. If it's an old one, you can go to apkmirror and grab a newer one. If it's the most recent one, you'll have to wait for it to change on its own.

So you have no suggestions why this happens in the first place? :)
Sure I can fix the apps one by one it seems from that APK-site.

    Probably because of API incompatability?

It can be an unadvertised decision to stop supporting older OS from Google, in order to promote replacement.
In any case, you'd better choose a custom ROM like LineageOS (in direct Cyanogen heritage), as your phone would gain all progress made since 2016.

One shouldn't be surpriced if that's the case.
Alas, I was planning to use my OPO for about 10 years, it's still doing its job just like it was brand new. :p

    Mine is fine too.
But I switched to Lineage. This is Cyanogen core, with updates. So you wouldn't be surprised, only updated.
