Extended Profiles Discussion

    elanglois , May 7, 2018 :
The purpose of this thread is to provide an ad-hoc way to provide a sort of "extended profile" for OnePlus Community members. OnePlus doesn't provide for a whole lot of detail about our devices, how we use them, and what we do with them, which is likely the most important thing we can communicate about who we are and why we are here. Let's get to know each other and introduce ourselves in the way that brought us here together; our phones!

We'll use this thread as a database, with each post belonging to one user. After creating a post, hold your finger (or right click if using a PC) on the post number at the bottom of your post. This will let you "Copy link address" and paste a link to your post into your Oneplus signature, Profile update line, and anywhere you would like to share it where people can easily recognize your info.

The first post (below) will contain a template of multiple sections with items to fill out in each section. Reply to this post and then delete the "quote" tags from the message (this will be easiest on the website so you can edit the BB Code directly). Fill out the information. If you don't answer a specific item, please delete it. If you have no answered items in a section, please delete the section. You may add additional items at the end of each section, or additional sections at the end of the post. Making each answer into a link is not only allowed, but recommended. This semi-structured method will make it possible to use the thread as a sort of database in the future. You may add a single picture of yourself, but only attach the thumbnail to the post, not the full picture. I recommend a front portrait pic if you can make one, just to show OnePlus that such pictures are both useful and possible without a double camera!

You may tag me if you need help on the rules above.

Originally I had a Oneplus One because it was an insanely high end phone designed for technophiles and hackers. OnePlus One came with Cyanogen out of the box and if that wasn't enough, OnePlus openly supported unlocking the bootloader, rooting, and flashing whatever OS you want. I'm big into freedom. My phone. I'll flash what I want! I've been using OnePlus products ever since.

I chose this device because ...
Bought son a Oneplus 5 for his birthday to wean him away from iPhones. I was really impressed by OxygenOS (I was using CyanogenMod on Nexus at the time) so grabbed a 5T at launch and am still absolutely delighted with it.
I am now a die-hard OxygenOS fan and, best of all, the bairn has now ditched all of his Apple devices and is currently rocking a Oneplus 6T.
I can see no reason to upgrade for now and may just stick with the 5T until the second generation of 5G devices are out. By then 5G network in UK will have matured too so might get 3 years out of this device.
    Best value phone ever!
