Extremely poor battery on brand new phone!

    @vigneshvar1 I did not get you. I have already done a factory reset a few hours back today as can be seen from my comment above. Will it help doing it again once it has not worked first time in same day?

    This is screen shot a few minutes back. I had charged it to 100% at 8pm. In about 3.5 hours it is down to 82% in airplane mode. Only use made was to delete many apps.

    Bit worried now. Have browsed more posts on this forum. Have come to like this mobile. Hope I don't have to return it and remain with my Note. :(

    This is nothing but wakelocks which are eating your battery. Don't worry about it. Install greenify and greenify some apps to disable their wakelock(push notifications). Trust me your battery will improve immensely.

    @sumchamp. Already installed greenock and greenified almost all apps except those that I can't or are needed. Have disabled by denying wake up etc Google play services also. Stopped almost all sync service desk like mail etc.

    No change.

    Hi! Here's the update of overnight change. I charged the mobile at 8pm yesterday to 100% and kept it on airplane mode overnight. Early morning, when I checked, battery was down to 82%. However, it gave some error message in very light/faded almost invisible notification and when I pressed an icon on notification, the mobile went on an endless loop. I switched it off by keeping power button pressed. And then tried to switch it on. Again it went in same endless loop (the oneplus red circle consisting of rectangles kept going round and round apparently rebooting but really not). Finally, I switched it off again and then did a hard reset (power+volume down and then selected "reset").

    On switching it on I ensured that after login it did not automatically download all my apps (by inactivating automatic download in Google Play). Hence, only the stock apps that came with mobile are there. At that time - 6.25am - battery was 68%. Now, about 3 hours later, it is 67%! Is this good news or it is too premature to conclude?

    I plan to download a very selected few apps only - the ones I really need - one at a time. e.g., Swiftkey first, then Simplenote, then esexplorer. I don't plan to use talk/sms services for at least a week.

    So should I wait for a day or two, and try it out? Or do I give it up and return? I am not sure if I return, I will get a replacement - and maybe I will have to go back in queue for an invite. But for this issue, I have come to like the mobile. I have a few more days within which I can return to Amazon.in.

    Disable sync and location sharing. Switch off wifi and data. This should give you a very low stand by drain, provided you don't have any messenger apps installed. May not be a good idea to return till the battery issue is confirmed.

    @darkclouds :- I have disabled sync, and wifi/data and even mobile services are off. I have not installed any messenger apps.

    How do I disable "location sharing"? I have set "location" at off. Do I need to do anything further.

    Appreciate your suggestion re not to return till battery issue is resolved. Will wait for a couple of days at least and observe. Thanks!

    location 'off' is just fine. You can try installing betterbatterystats to find out about wakelocks. After installing enable 'Active monitoring' and you can see after each screen off how much sleep/wake time spent. Ideally close to 100% sleep time is preferred, but varies heavily depends on apps.

    Keep in mind your amazon return date. I think your problem is solved but test your mobile as much as possible before that date. I have exactly 100 icons in app drawer and battery drain in normal

    yes, @cabhay - will do just that. Over weekend particularly will add more apps and then increase browsing, etc. I have at least a week before I take final decision re keep/return. Thanks.

    @sumchamp - looks like it. I have updated all existing apps - all google stock ones - and charging mobile back to 100%. Will report tomorrow after keeping mobile on airplane mode overnight.
