Eye strain depends on hardware and your eyes.
There are several software ways to try and adapt your screen to your eyes.

First, brightness. The brighter the screen, the harder for the eyes.

Second, color settings. You might prefer soft, natural colors rather than vivid ones.

Third, for long sessions, like reading on your device, OnePlus developed reading mode. This is specially dedicated to those who spend a lot of time concentrated on their screen, and by displaying grey tones, it will ease the eye.

At last, night mode. When sun sets, your body is conditioned to see reddish colors. Night mode will reduce blue colors which strain the eyes and prevent from getting to sleep.

Did you try to play with your settings?

DC Dimming might help you with that, but at this point, it's only available in Beta builds.

Night mode is for the night. Say after 9 pm.

I suggest that you should go for the custom colour profile with the colours set to warm tones. That helps. Works for me.

Are you sure your sight doesn't begin to change ? Usually, when people begin to have a headache looking at a screen, it's because their sight isn't what it used to be.

When was the last time you paid a visit to an ophthalmologist ?

Probably but that means there is a setting in the phone that is enabled (or not) that's causing your eye strain.

I wish I could but since I don't experience your issue, I don't know what could be causing this. Besides, the other users have already told you the different settings you could enable/disable (but apparently, with no result).

One last resort solution would be to pay a visit to the nearest service center
