Camera Failed to open Camera

    Hi All,

I am not sure what wrong did I do to my OnePlus 5, but yesterday, I realised that my camera has stopped working only when I tried to make a video call via Whatsapp to my family. After that, I tried opening the Camera app directly and it would keep informing the error message, "Failed to open Camera".
As usual, I searched for a solution online and performed the usual step of clearing the storage and cache on the app, but in vain. Then I did wipe cache after reload, but that doesn't seem to work too. Over and above, the Youtube app in specific won't work too.

So if someone has faced this issue then please let me know, what else apart from the above steps I can do to resolve my issue.

Additional info: Messaging is gone as well. I can't send a normal message. The app just hangs when I start typing my message. 😑

    Regards,
    M

Boot to safe mode and see if it working there.

BTW is your device is rooted or bootloader is unlocked or something like that?

I have never rooted the device and don't know about the bootloader if it is in the right state. The only time I did something different on this phone was when OnePlus launched the beta for Android 10 and it was in a bad shape. I had a hard time to wipe everything off and go back to Android 9.
I hope that helps with your question.

You better do a factor reset once, take backup of the data before that.

I did perform the factory reset taking the backup, already,
before raising the concern. Now as you asked me to check if the app works in safe mode and I did check it. The same error was there.

Then it is most probably hardware issue, try to contact the customer support.

Why I doubt it to be a Hardware issue is because Whatsapp kinda opened it once and since then the app crashes whenever I mistakenly click on the camera option again. I have already raised a request since last 2 days and there's been no response.

Oh, as the device is old might get very late response..
They were talking about some serious bugs with A10 it might be that as you were on beta of A10.

The issue is now resolved though I lost vibration on the phone, which ain't a big concern for me.

Resolution: Just downgrade your OnePlus 5 to Android Pie (last available software update)
My phone is now back to life with no vibration.

If I find some other difference in performance, I would keep ya posted.
