the IP67 rating is damn fake.. Worst experience.. the phone was on my pocket while I was riding bike in rain and entire phone was clogged with water. Bought it because of it's IP rating. Never ever getting a oneplus again. Guys don't get oneplus for it's IP rating.. just a fake crowd magnet.

Ah yes. Def the same conditions as what the IP rating tests. Yes indeed. 100% the same.

Said the sour user who bought a phone for its IP rating.
IP ratings is majorly useless in a lot of real life scenarios, you know:rolleyes:. They are obtained in very specific lab conditions.

    So it stopped working?
You do know that IP67 doesn't mean it will withstand water forever, right?

Also, here's a fact for you, the vanilla 9 has no IP rating except for the T-Mo version in the US.
since you posted in the OP9 General Support, i'm assuming you are talking about that device.
My earlier post still stands btw.

Global/IN/EU version of Oneplus 9 don't have iP67. Only the T-mobile version have it.

Atleast you should have got the numbers and the details right. You have gone out in bad weather and blaming company for a test they have not done. Now, explain whose mistake would that be.

Obviously, you will have moisture in your camera sensor if you have taken no precaution for your mobile while travelling in heavy rain. Light rain could not cause water to seep into the camera and i have tested it. But, no one should keep the phone without a case and that too in a pocket wide open while its raining heavily. The IP68 rating for your device has been tested under lab conditions. That always doesn't simulate reality.

    True 👍
So contrary to the popular belief it's never water proof actually but just better water resistant capability with better IP rating 😀

'IP67 equipment is the most commonly found in the connectivity market. It is 100% protected against solid objects like dust and sand, and it has been tested to work for at least 30 minutes while under 15cm to 1m of water."

For me it happened in a light rain...and with oneplus stock cover on.

I used a Spigen liquid air case and took my phone in the rain(light rain) and used the camera for about 3 minutes which didn't affect my phone.

Lab conditions using deionised water is not the same as reality. It's tested under certain conditions. Many factors can come into play, condition of the phone is even a factor. Heat, cold, humidity, and many other variables.

It would nearly be impossible to quantify why something like that happened to your phone on an engineering and statistical level using all this variables.

Even Apple states in their commercials (with very very small written letters) that liquid damage is NOT covered by device warranty. (Commercial shows sever contacts with water while phone was in use) so after all, user should read carefully the definition of IP ratings and also the warranty regulations before buying any device and blaming manufacturer afterwards.
