I'm fed up ! Each time I'm coming on the OnePlus forums I'm seeing new thread about problems that people have on there OP2.... And no one is saying good things or honest things about the OP2.... So here I am !
-> First I need to say that it's a Chinese version with 3Gb of RAM and 16Gb of storage. No root or tweaks, just stock OxygenOS 2.1 flashed officialy. And I have been using my OP2 for almost 1 month now. <-
HARDWARE
Gorgeous ! It's huge but with the back curve
it fits perfectly in my hands. The metal band around the device is beautiful and make it
super premium. The speaker and mic holes are perfectly drilled like the USB C port.
I need to say that
I have the 16Gb/3Gb version, and about that no complains at all.
The screen is almost perfect ! FHD is enough to me, and the
viewing angles are crazy. The back camera layout is perfect. On the OPO it was too high on the back.
The only thing that
I don't really like is the fake home button. I'm saying fake because I'm using on-screen button so I'm using this area only for fingerprint scanner.
Speaking of that, ok sometimes it's not super accurate but overall it works well.
I love the USB type C. I bought a USB C to micro USB adapter and I always have it in my back pack. Like that I know that USB C is not a problem but a real plus.
The alert slider is cool, but for now I'm not using it at all. Just waiting to be able to personalize it.
Heating ? Yes, but like every smartphone I used. Playing 30min of Real Racing 3 and it began to be hot... Like my Nexus 7 2013 or my iPhone 5s or my Samsung Galaxy Alpha. So yes it heats, but it's
not as hot as some people are complaining about !
The camera offers amazing shots. I'm impressed even if the focus is not so perfect in my opinion. On the 2.1 release,
OnePlus puts the Manual Mode... Damn ! I love it.
Final thoughts ? Yes I love it ! Not much more to say, I love it !
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCES
OxygenOS is still young, but it's for me the base for a future crazy ROM. What I mean is that it looks stock but with some tweaks. I hope OnePlus will implement more tweaks in the future.
It has some bugs, for sure. But
some people needs to remember that the OnePlus One with CM11s had got a lot of bugs too at the beginning !
I love OxygenOS, it works well, and is very stable to me in a day to day use.
I only have 3Gb of RAM... And, honestely, I don't feel the need of more RAM. Real Racing 3 is working perfectly with no freeze or drop framerate. I have to say that I was surprise by that but it's true.
The OP2 begins to be hot in 10min but it's really acceptable.
Battery life talking... Always hard to compare with others but here is my usual daily type of use : Bluetooth connected to my Pebble, 3G/4G on all day, localization on save energy mode. In this setup
I'm finishing my day at 12% of battery with 2h to 2h30 of SoT. To me it's great but of course it's not crazy !
Conclusion ? Yes it mays not be the 2016 Flagship killer or even the 2015 Flagship killer. But for the price it's really impressive, but less than the OPO was. It's maybe the problem ! People were expecting the same surprise as last year but it wasn't possible. I love my OP2, I have no complain about it, only OxygenOS but it will updated so problems will be solved shortly.
I want to say thank you to
@Carl and all the OnePlus team for this great device ;-)
Tech Check ;-)
