I received my OnePlus 2 today and unpacked it to take a look.
For OPO owners, you remember the familiar vibration when you start it up, and in the previous gen it was robust, but subtle enough to shake the entire device (I owned 5).
Upon powering this one up I felt a really cheap vibration motor that really didn't feel "premium" at all. The device is well built, but when I felt it in the hand I can say 100% that the original OPO not only felt better with a slimmer profile, but the heat was less noticeable without the metal banding. As a result, even before launching apps I could feel warmth (not a bad thing for all, but it bothered me).
So far I don't feel a premium phone and can say with conviction that the OPO would still be my phone of choice if you put the two next to me and said: "choose."
I will still stick by OnePlus and see what is in store for the future, but they had such a great thing going in the Cyanogen days, I loved the SF meetup, the people were great...but, the device just doesn't even come close to what I expected from them this time around. First impressions are everything and I set expectations low just to be surprised, and was not.
Keep your OPO and wait for the next gen. You will miss the feel of your original sandstone OPO.
But, that's just like my opinion, man...
