I am using the OnePlus 6 in my car. I own a 2017 GMC Acadia and Android Auto works fine it in. Did you try deleting Android Auto app from your phone and downloading it again?

    yes ofcourse

buy seems that not all OP6 are having this issue

when you do a search, you find several threads about this issue

seems to be a issue with notch

I just installed a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX and I initially was unable to get wired Android auto connection to work. I narrowed it down to the USB extension cable that was provided with the radio. Hope this helps.

first download droid info to check correct version that you need

    in my case "arm64-v8a"

    then go to:

download apk directly to you device (not computer)

    launch apk

(be sure that option install trusted apps is disabled on you device)

    there you go

android auto is installed and should work

But you still felt the need to create a new thread instead of contributing to the existing ones?

That's probably worse than the people who don't even bother to look in the first place.

seems old threads are not in OP6 section

that is why i opened new one

and yes i did search first

just installed latest version of android auto

    still same issue

it is defenetly an OP problem

not a car issue. as other phones work perfectly in my car even old huawei p8 lite works perfectly

bug hunters of OP say this will be fixed in next update

but when will this update be released?

    tested devices:

    - huawei p8 lite

    - samsung s6, s7 and even s9

    - huawei Y6

these device work without any issue

    only OP6 has this problem.

    I'll share my OP6 AA experience (2017 Ford F-350 with Sync 3):

    1) First month, everything worked great

    2) Around the end of June, I started having Pandora issues, wouldn't load. Waze still worked. Tried uninstall of both AA & Pandora, clearing cache, etc.... same result. I found that if I opened Pandora before I connected to my truck, all worked. So, I installed an app that detects Bluetooth and allows the opening of an app automatically (Bluetooth Connect and Play). Solved my issue. Can set app to close at bluetooth disconnect too. Nice app! I needed this for one other Android phone a couple years ago. Phones since have not needed this, until my OP6 issue.

    3) New problem: I enabled face unlock. When plugging into my Sync 3, my phone would unlock (as it should because I'm looking at it). AA would not work at all (nothing, could not connect) with phone screen on and phone unlocked. So, as I've seen on other discussions, my OP6 must be locked and display off when plugging into AA. Solved by disabling face unlock. Bummer because face unlock is a great feature!

AA works great now, with my 2 work-arounds. I use it every day, multiple times per day... Waze & Pandora are on every time I enter my truck, sometimes switch to Google Maps & Google Play music, all are good. I plug in and music plays in under 5 seconds and Waze is ready to go. Hope this helps.

i tried your suggested fix by disabling "face unlock" on my VW -sony xav100 head unit, oneplus 6, and miracle! i got back my ability to use voice "ok google" commands with AA! i've been searching for months for a workaround. thanks for posting and sharing! it worked with somebody! it also seems to have alleviated problems i have connecting with media (all of the above and below occuring since Pie update).

i still looking for a solution to inability to send messages via whatsapp. also phone (headunit) doesn't ring when i receive a call.

in any case thanks a million!
