Not if they keeping deleting unknown files from /system in future OTAs. It would be easy to add a OTA-survival mode, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I now pushed the build with the embedded boot.img for XNPH30O. I will most likely phase this out in the future though, as you can just flash the light one and then (if you need adb root) flash the debuggable boot.img yourself.

I did not test the full build myself (as I use the light one), but it is created automatically and should thus work without issues.

Future versions of the light build might include the ability to survive OTA updates, or it will be provided as a separate add-on.

Now I'm curious: How is flashing one of these zips more work then flashing a SuperSU zip?

Could flashing the light version, be the reason I cannot sideload the OTA update?

    • Add symlink /system/bin/su which was removed in XNPH33R
    • Fix permission of init.d script to be 755 instead of 6755

I'll use the XNPH33R update to check my new OTA survival script. If everything works fine (which it should), the next version will include that, so there would no need to reflash this anymore after an upgrade.

Updated the light version, changes since the last version:
    • Survive OTA updates (as long as /data is not wiped)

Do you need adb root? If not, use the light version. The "full" version requires new factory images to be posted first. This also means that full cannot survive OTA updates.

I wouldn't say I 'need' it, but messing around on the /system partition is way more convenient through my computer. Oh well, I'll go with light for now.
