I am just trying to think of a backdoor for those who use TWRP as their recovery. I was getting the binary updater error on my Nexus 4 yesterday when flashing a rom in TWRP, and ADB Sideload solved it.
If you are having problems flashing the update through TWRP, this may help you.
My Instructions:
- Download the file from first post here: YNG1TAS2I3 OTA Released! *DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE INCREMENTAL UPDATE! THE FULL PACKAGE IS THE ONLY WAY THIS WILL WORK*
- Download the Android SDK and run updates (if you don't already have the SDK)
- Open up your Command Prompt or Terminal and type "adb version" and make sure you have version 1.0.32
- Boot into TWRP on your phone
- Go to Advanced/ADB Sideload in TWRP
- Plug your phone in to the computer
- *MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE DONE EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID BEFORE THIS POINT* In CMD Prompt/Terminal type "adb sideload [path/to/file].zip" (please change [path/to/file] to the path to the file)
- Let the file sideload, reboot and enjoy!
Second way
- Download that full package from the link from the first point of my instructions.
- Put the file at the root of your internal storage (sdcard/0) so it is easy to find in TWRP.
- Power device off.
- Boot into TWRP.
- Choose the file you just put at the root of your internal storage.
- Let file flash, Reboot, Enjoy!
I will not be responsible for bricked devices for not following the instructions thoroughly
This method can also be used with stock recovery or CWM. Please tag me and thank me if you were successful with flashing the update.
