My internet story (well for my whole family too) starts when I was in class 7 (2012). Before that, no one in my family ever used internet. Earlier, whenever I had any requirement for my project work, my father would ask my uncle to arrange for all information and pictures I require.

First we bought a Dell laptop. To use internet on it, we bought a D-Link dongle. And and and .... a BSNL sim. The speed was around 10kb/s (2G). My usage was limited to Wikipedia, for project work. In a year's time, we upgraded to 3G services which gave speeds of around 70kb/s. Don't expect much from BSNL. For me, this upgrade was astronomical. 7-8 times speedier(🏎️). In another half yr, we finally shifted to Reliance. And Reliance 3G gave speeds of 300-500kb/s. I just loved it.

Now my wrong doings: When I was in class 11(early 2016), i somehow got to know the Wi-Fi password of my neighbour. We disconnected our dongle service. My entire family started using their Wi-Fi. We used their internet for almost half a year after which they changed their password. Did they discovered we were stealing it 🤔🧐?

After losing neighbour's Wi-Fi, we bought a MTS Wi-Fi dongle. This had speeds just below 1mb/s. Imagine, 1mb/s in 2016. Early 2017, we finally got hands on Jio. Free service for a year🎉🎉. MTS became bankrupt, so did many other companies. I don't remember exact speed of Jio but it was good.

Time flies. Lockdown started. Classes at home started. So need for broadband emerged. We got Airtel Broadband connection with 100mb/s giving 3300gb/month. Airtel's speed is awesome.

To compare it with Jio, I did a speed test with Jio LTE connection too. Here's the result:

I am having great speeds now. From 10kb/s to 100mb/s and most probably, I'll upgrade to 200mb/s. I am still hungry for more speed.

I see Vodafone is treating you well. Unfortunately, my connection here is 1) wi-fi and 2) never hitting the 500Mbps I was supposed to be getting, even with a wired connection. Never complained so I guess that's on me.

Wi-Fi actually. This is Portugal. We won't see proper 5G for a while.

Or any 5G for that matter, considering where I live. Best case scenario, next year.
