Why do you guys have so much difference b/w upload and download speeds...I get almost identical speeds in both.

Contracted speeds. Vodafone (and I think all other suppliers here in Portugal) have higher download speeds than upload speeds. Only business accounts get higher upload speeds iirc.

My contracted speeds are 500/100. Even 1Gbps download contracts get 100Mbps upload.

I actually cannot remember how much I pay for the Internet since it is a bundle with TV and a few premium channels (F1, football).

Plot twist: I am the neighbor who got that person's password. :p

It is solid when it is working. Sometimes Vodafone decides it's a good time to do some maintenance, even the other day I was almost a whole morning without Internet because reasons. Other ISPs, from what I hear, are not that better. I will use Wi-Fi in my smartphone and share the speed achieved there.

Why do you think I purposefully specified them between parenthesis? I would never lie between parenthesis. :D

Man, Loved reading your story. Definitely a trip down the memory lane with so many familiar names I had forgotten like Tata Photon Plus. I used to have a Vodafone Dongle instead. Something on the lines of your Postpaid anecdote happened to me as well, after which I decided to never go on a Postpaid Plan ever.

Right Now I'm on a Jio Fiber with 150 Mbps speed, which works perfect for me in terms what What you pay and What you get. TBH, Jio Fiber is the Closest I've ever gotten to a Plan's Promised speed, and get 140-148 Mbps on most days. For almost every other connection I've had before I got a quarter(or less) of the quoted speed by the Internet Provider so it's a welcome change.

It's Crazy to think how far we've come in terms of data speed. When I first got my "Super Fast" 512 Kbps Broadband Connection, it felt completely insane to think we didn't need to go to a Cyber Cafe to use the Internet. Now I stream 2K Videos, Play Online Multiplayer Games and barely give it a second thought. I find that curiosity about the Internet missing now, in myself and most people around me.

    Haven't checked in while...

WiFi with Netflix streaming in living room and internet radio in kitchen...

    Btw..
I started with an 9600 Baud accustic Modem connecting to so called mailboxes in the late 80ties with my Commodore Amiga 500...
    It was like 0.11€ /minute..😅

    Under ideal conditions that was:
    9600 Baud = 0.0096 Mbp/s
    = 34.56 Mbp/hour = 414.72 Mbp/day

Sure glad it was just text based and some small basic programs to download...

Downloading a YouTube video would have taken days and cost a fortune...😂

Mine is nothing to brag about 😅 2 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up (internet) and around 4 or 5 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (4g LTE) I'm hoping that Verizon 5G be coming to my area with a cell tower in my backyard. I'd definitely start using phone data vs wifi.
