I have 5T and I am barely on 4G/LTE. 90% of the time I am on H+ or 3G. I contacted network support, technical support and I am just running around in the circle. No one seems to get it what's going on connection issue except that I am getting idea presented to me as if you didn't buy the phone from freedom mobile you are screwed. Any help would appreciate it.

I did that, no luck. I am just not getting on 4G. Even If I manage to get in, my download speed is 3 mbps

so that is the problem with your network provider and not with the phone.
I suggest you to change your sim

Where are you located? I suggest installing an app like LTE discovery to help diagnose what is going on.

As I'm sure you know, Freedom coverage os nowhere near the geography that the big three cover. The forst question is, are you somewhere you can actually get a reasonable strength LTE signal on Freedom?

Use LTE discovery and grab a screenshot to provide us with details to diagnose whats happening. A screenshot from speedtest would help too.

Next question is, what ROM version are you on? (Stable, beta, and which release)

It appears that a number of people have the 5T running OK on Freedom.

As you noticed, Freedom isn't an officially supported carrier. If you see the LTE bands, theoretically the phone should be working but OnePlus won't confirm that it will work. I spent an hour with support trying to understand why it isn't supported. The best they would do is confirm that the GSM 3G band should work. Ha ha ha.

Interestingly enough, when I looked at the info about the 6 yesterday, Freedom does come up in the list of supported. So I'm going to buy a 6 when it becomes available for sale May 22nd.

I just purchased a OnePlus 6 and all good except my old phone would connect with LTE. The OnePlus seems to max out at 4G. When I go to network settings, SIM and network, preferred network type the only options are 2G, 2G/3G, 2G/3G/4G.

Where's the option to connect at LTE speeds?

@dd0sda11 there is a thread that talks about the indicator showing only 4G but apparently is LTE.

    From https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/4g-vs-lte/

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I am getting 90mbps download so I guess I am getting the new LTE network! On my Nexus there was a big difference between 4G and "LTE" so I was. expecting the display to say the same.

In Ottawa Ontario the service is garbage with Freedom. I've been with them only this month of May and will be canceling my services with them at the end of the month.

Data speeds are horrible most of the time and the cellular signal strength is weak all the time.

    Freedom mobile, never again.

    Screw Freedom mobile.

So today I got a Rogers ShareEverything+ no tab 16GB with an 819 area code in Ottawa Ontario. $95 monthly LTE Advance speeds.

I paid $60 monthly for the 13GB plan on Freedom (crappy speed and signal seen in about SS), for a $35 differences the upgrade is immeasurable.
