Have you tried putting a different effect on it? I've been a huge fan of the "clear image" mode.

Sound like Patty likes some selfies, but disappointed.

Are you previewing the pictures in quickpic? you need to zoom into the image a little to see the sharpness. You might also be shaking the camera too much.
Also, are you using the front facing camera/shooting in low light?

I agree, but how can I change the effect for when I use apps like snapchat?

I'm sure that it's software issue, because other thirdparty apps(such as Candy Camera) work quite well.... I think there is a little of delay after taking picture on the stock camera app....

I think it just comes down to the fact that you're using a front facing camera which is 5mp. That means less light is entering (compared to the front facing), which further results in long exposure times and noise, add in the fact that there is no IS and i think we know why.

I agree. Especially because there's no IS. Cyanogen, first thing to fix about the One camera software...even if it's only digital IS.

Have you enabled front facing quality to 100% under the settings menu? Also, try messing with the filters/shooting modes

Sorry to revive this thread if it's dead but -

I understand it is a software issue, is there any way to make this problem no longer occur on apps like skype? For me this is only a problem because I can't skype with high quality video that looks good on the front camera

I am also replying to this thread:
My wife told me about this, didn't notice it at all because I don't use the front cam.
Inside with lights turned on the front cam in "selfie" mode ALWAYS blurs and overbrightens pictures. No matter if automatic ISO, fixed light settings or changed filters etc.
I tried to "focus" my forehead and my eyes but no matter how near or far away you move the camera, there seems to be no point where the image is focused right.
