You'd think that people would maybe Google things first.

There's a lot of manufacturers that have a worse record, that's for sure.

People even don't get fact about their own device straight, let alone Google facts about other manufacturers. :(

2 years of full support + 1 year of security updates is default thing for big vendors. That's why I even haven't tried to search about OP. I was pretty sure it is supported for 3 years.

Would never use a phone more than 2 years. Probably not more than 1 year!

Its not a thread about who is best or worse its about what customers want and there is a poll to vote on to make your wish known as well

For me it’s about pushing a company who’s Moto is “never settle” so they need a little push every now and then in my opinion

But yes is you are happy with the current setup give the poll a “NO” all opinions are valid

2 years is no where close to enough time. This is true especially when they're claiming to "never settle." The top tier phone manufacturers have been trying to update their past flagships and apple has done a excellent job doing so. You can't claim to be the best when you can't provide assurance to your customers that their phone won't magically stop receiving updates. especially since their portfolio of devices is no where as large as some of the major brands.

Some people have to, but yes in an ideal world every year you get a new phone so it doesnt affect those people.

Or with oneplus a new phone every 6 months lol

THe thing is for some people the big processor and RAM means these phones last way longer than a year 2/3 and they are still comparable with new phones for their power so this thread is for them and you,

Vote in the poll let your opinion be known

You're not getting it. We've already had two major updates and will have two years of security updates.
Not sure what you're arguing about?

But that's you. a majority of consumers have no need to update their device yearly. Doing that is more of a luxury than a necessity because the average consumer wouldn't be impacted by yearly updates.

Why not? We should hold Android and iOS to the same standard. Both are competing operating systems for many devices that we use today. Worrying because an eventual lack of support for your device is justified. Some people bought this device to have for years down the road because to them it was a costly purchase. Also, if OnePlus can't put their money where their mouth is then they need to change their motto. the consumer should never settle for less because of internal problems in a company.

Google promises 3 year but they release updates until phone handles.

And oneplus release one phone like Apple not like LG or Samsung releasing 100 phones hence fragmentation is excuses they can roll with.

OnePlus release one phone and can easily release 3 to 4 year updates if company choose to do so.

I personally don't care the phone won't last me a year in fact I will switch to 2 XL in May.

I hope they focus more on 5 and 5t , instead of releasing 6
if they release 6 around sept/Oct then they don't have to release one more device (t versions ) just to keep up with the trend ..

Actually, you can have one codebase for all phones with android. I don't see any problems with updating old devices excuding testing it.

It's true though. All I ever hear on the forums are excuses for why OnePlus can't or shouldn't do things that other companies can. I continually see replies saying that the update isn't bad and OP needs to stop complaining, or that OnePlus is trying their best because they're a "small company." All I hear are excuses for problems that we aren't responsible for. We need more people willing to tell OnePlus the raw truth rather than sugar coat it and make excuses for them.

Before having 5t I owned Huawei P9 Plus released in 2016. And when P10 came out it was already pretty obvious P9 wasn't going to get Oreo. So no update for a ONE year old phone. Never going to buy Huawei/Honor again.
