I think you need to have the Samsung Email and Messages app for this to work as those apps have a "watch companion app" that installs on the watch.

For SMS you could use PulseSMS which has an app in the Galaxy Store that pairs with the app on your phone.

I have the one plus 7 pro and the galaxy watch, I am facing issues while pairing them sometimes, the galaxy wear app on my phone says, Cannot connect to watch.
This happens frequently and sometimes pairing does work.
I have resettled the watch based on recommendations but still I am facing frequent connection interface issues.
    Anyone please suggest a solution?

My S3 Frontier stopped getting calls altogether once I started using the 7 Pro. Unpaired, set it back up, uninstalled/reinstalled all the Wear apps/plug in and still no calls. Everything else works fine for messages and other app notifications. Frustrating ☹️

Same here. OnePlus 7 Pro 5G from Sprint with Samsung Galaxy Active 2 with standalone LTE.

Been connected with Sprint support for over an hour. When disconnected from Bluetooth, watch gives notice that it is in Standalone mode, but can only place emergency calls. Has 3-5 service bars, but has a SIM card icon with an X through it.

When in the Samsung Wearable app under network settings, it says my phone is not compatible with cellular service on my watch. Same as screenshot shown two posts above.

when i use galaxy active 2 46 with Bluetooth connected with my op7 pro, both devices drain battery really fast. Almost doubled the battery usage. 100% battery only last nearly 5 hours.
