Try Force Stop (Long press the Camera and Gallery icons, click the i Button, then Force Stop).

If they still crash, try clearing the cache from both apps.

If still not working after, it may be time to contact OnePlus Support.

If you want to shoot pics, open camera app.
If you want to look at your pics, open gallery app.
    2 apps, 2 purposes.

It allows you to review last shot pic, in order to decide whether you need to try and shoot a better one.

Which is great if it works, but not if the app crashes, right?

I think you need to read again what's being asked here.

Also, if you click the picture, you can look at more than one picture, you just swipe to get to each picture.

To the OP and any other OnePlus 7 pro user who is having a similar issue and not finding any solutions, I may have found one. I had the exact issue a few others across the internet have mentioned:1) the camera app thumbnail of the last taken shot hangs when linking to and opening the gallery then quits and returns to the camera and 2) the gallery wasn't detecting my photos at all while other gallery apps were. I deleted the cache from all media sources as is commonly suggested - nothing worked.

I gave up, downloaded another gallery app and went to uninstall the default app. I couldn't see a way to do this, but on the page for it on the app store there is an uninstall button. After I clicked it, the 'open' button was still available - and when I pushed it both problems described above were fixed.

YMMV - I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't work for anyone else.

Try the solution outlined in reply #7. The updates for the OnePlus gallery are what caused the issue for me - once I disabled them and uninstalled the app, things worked perfectly once reinstalled. Just don't let it update.

Or, just install a different gallery like everyone else apparently has.
