Gallery NOT working properly! Mar 13, 2018

    Hi, I have been using 5T since a couple of months. It was working well before, but now I am facing some problems with Gallery. The Problems are as follows:

    1. When I try to download photos from Facebook or WhatsApp profile, the app shows that the photo is saved in Gallery. But the photo doesn't show up in Gallery.

    2. I tried to move some photos from one folder to another to sort them out. It didn't happen through Gallery. So I went to File Manager and moved them. But when I moved the photos, they were removed from original folder but didn't show up in the new folder.

    (The Camera is working fine though. The photos taken are appearing in Gallery. When I take a screenshot, it also works totally fine.) So new photos are not being added in Gallery except from the camera or screenshot.

    Thought so. Which one do you recommend? I would like to use Google Photos but again that app is also not showing new photos.

    Thanks Sridhar! I installed the app. But I think now I understand the issue. Any gallery app is not able to find media files from my storage.

    So the issue is not the gallery but something else!

    okay. this is what you should try:

    settings/ apps/ 3 dots on top right/ show system apps
    scroll to gallery/ storage/ delete data
    scroll to media storage/ storage/ delete data
    reboot to recovery and wipe cache
    reboot

    wait for 5 to 10 minutes to allow time for the media scanner to scan through your internal storage.

    now open your gallery apps and should see all your media.

    Sridhar, how do I reboot to recovery? I tried holding volume down and power button together, but it didn't work.

    please use reply function to notify the recipient.

    that said:

    power off
    power + volume down button. hold this combination till device starts
    english
    wipe data and cache
    wipe cache (don't choose any other option here)
    reboot

    ok. now it doesn't show anything.

    Everything wiped out! Exactly like F-stop, Gallery became the brand new app which is not able to find media files from storage.
