    GeekOnTheHill , Oct 11, 2020 :
I'm passively considering buying an 8T if and when it gets certified for VZW. I have a list of "Pro's" and "Con's" based on what we know about the phone.

Zen Mode is the first item in the "Con's" column. Unless it can reliably uninstalled via ADB or otherwise disabled, it's an absolute deal killer. It is, in my opinion, a virus because it takes control of the device away from its owner. I also consider it to be the worst thing about OnePlus phones, and the second thing to be uninstalled / disabled on a new phone (right after Google's similarly-useless "Digital Well-Being" virus).

To understand where I'm coming from, I use my phone for work. It's a tool, not a toy. When I don't need it, I don't use it; and I don't need the tool telling me when I can use it any more than a carpenter needs his hammer telling him when he can use it.

At the present moment, I don't even know where my phone is. I know it's somewhere in the house, but not exactly where. It's wherever I was when I last set it down. If it rings, I'll hear it. If I need it or decide to go out, I'll call it and listen for the ring. If not, it will sit where it is waiting for me.

In other words, I'm not a phone addict, and I don't need to be treated as one. This app is useless, insulting, and unless it can be uninstalled or completely disabled, a built-in virus and a deal-killer.

OnePlus need to get to grips with the software issues throughout oxygen eco system rather than distracting everyone with bloat ware apps.
I would like an option to remove this app completely.
