    Ruby G. , Jan 4, 2019 :

    Hello friends,

We’re kicking off 2019 with some global feel-good fun. We know that there's all types in the OnePlus family, from all parts of the world and of different ages. But did you ever stop to think about how many languages/dialects that must involve?

We often associate Hindi/English with India, when really there are 22 major languages and over 720 dialects. Many Canadians and Americans speak English, but there’s distinct linguistic variations from Newfoundland to the Ottawa Valley, from Boston to Texas to Los Angeles. Canadians also speak Chinese and French, Americans also speak Spanish and French Creole (to name a few).

If you’re in Canada, India or the United States, we cordially invite you to join Part 1 of our global mission, to teach the world how to use the best of OnePlus technology via your heart language. (Friends in EU, your time will come later in the following weeks.) We’re extremely excited for this project. There's something special about hearing others in their native tongue or home dialect.

    How this will work:
    • Head to your regional subforum to see which element your region has been assigned.
    • Create a video teaching this feature in your native dialect or hometown accent. Please upload to a streaming website or Google Drive. Keep it under 60 seconds.
    • Post your entry before January 25th in your regional subforum as a new thread. Use #GlobalTutorial in the title. Be sure to tell us which regional dialect or accent you are using.
There are two levels of competition in this contest: within your country and among the three countries of Part 1.

    • The top three entries from each country will get a OnePlus Explorer Backpack. The best of the top three will win a VIP access coin for all future OnePlus events.
    • The country with the most qualifying entries will win a community event in their region! And if you’re in that top of 3 of the winning country, you will get to help plan and attend that dream event.
We’ll announce the winners by the end of January. All winning videos will appear in the OnePlus 6T Global Tutorial Mix. More details on this fun community project later.

Now head on over to your regional subforum and see those instructions!

We got one of our colleagues to help film an example!

    Jerry on Hidden Space
    Sichuan dialect of Mandarin Chinese

    My rough translation:
"Often I use this hidden space feature. First you need to swipe up to open this App Drawer, and then drag right to open this area.
Inside is a very small delight, an eye symbol that will look to the left and right.
Continue to right swipe and you will enter the hidden space. Inside you can stick your apps for your own private use.
Press the plus sign, for example you select this app, then press the arrow to bring it in. After you've brought it in, if you want to move it out then long press for this menu. And then you can press the button on your far left, moving it out. This is a rather practical, often hidden feature."

Hey Ruby, this sounds amazing! I think it's a great idea. Might I suggest just one thing? Perhaps amending the rule above to say "the most qualifying entries per capita" would be more fair because the population difference between Canada and America, and America and India is massive. Obviously it would be easier for a country with a larger population to have more entries in total, but if you take it as a percentage of the country's population that might be more fair

Just a suggestion. Either way, I'm looking forward to see all the interesting submissions!
