Go back to 44S from 05Q without adb

    rajeshk , Feb 21, 2015 :
I updated my OPO to 05Q the very first day it became available. After update everything was fine for couple of days except for faster battery drain. I was expecting it to settle after couple of days and battery backup will stabilize.
I tried wiping cache, factory reset and delete data. Nothing worked battery drain was still there.
After using it for couple of more days few other issues started to show up.
    GPS was not working well.
Proximity sensor was not working while calling (restart was needed to fix it).

So I decided to roll back to 44S, which was working fine.
There are many threads on xda and this forum explaining the process to flash fast boot image to OPO. But I was looking for something easier then using fast boot etc.

After searching a lot, I decided to use signed zip files of CM11S (which was last made avialable for 33R).
This is how I went back to 44S.
    Flashed "cm-11.0-XNPH33R-bacon-signed.zip" using stock recovery.
    Wipe cache reboot.
    Flashed 33 - 38 OTA using recovery.
    Wipe cache reboot.
    Flashed 38 - 44 OTA using recovery.
    Wipe cache reboot.

Voila, back to 44S. Using it for more than a week now, everything is working fine.

NO ROOT, NO OTHER RECOVERY, NO BOOT LOADER UNLOCK.
Your stock OPO will work just fine. (Stock recovery, locked boot loader and un rooted)
All the related files can be found here.

best way is to install 44s rom and flash 44s modem!!
download rom and modem and keep it inside your internal storage
    get into twrp
    wipe cache,dalvik,system,data
    flash modem
    flash rom
    restart

If fastboot is your preferred way then why OTA's instead of flashing 33R or 38R just flash the official 44S img via fastboot, just an opinion.

Thanks for the info but the thread's title is surely in contrast to Adb's working environment. AFAIK, Adb works as long as Android OS is booted and running. And if you're booted into it you can't replace the system i.e. flashing. That is why Fastboot is there to help. I think you should prefer to edit the thread's title from adb to fastboot. But anyway, the info is good.

But flashing modem is not needed and actually, in my OPO the 05Q modem is providing better stability of Signals than of 44S.
