Has anyone else experienced this? After updating the Google app through the play store and trying to run it, it has a Google has stopped message. So I uninstall the update and all goes back to normal. Is there a fix to this I aren't aware of? Or any idea why this happens? I am running CyanogenOS 12 with franco kernel. Thanks.

Update: I contacted google about this issue, and they suggested I let OnePlus know about the problem beacuse it sounds like a device with a corrupt version of android. But phone is fine.

Wow. That is really a professional answer.
Do they know that the OnePlus android version went trough Google certification and passed it?

I had this issue when I updated Google app recently, it was actually crashing my launcher as well as the two are interconnected. I tried all types of combinations of uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing data and cache and nothing worked. Finally I figured out the it was unicon causing the crash because it was trying to load my icon configs from the old GNL on the new GNL, and Google didn't like that very much. I just had to reset unicon, install the Google update and all was well.

I doubt it. It seems like they just don't have answers right now. I think it's clearly on there part. But just curious because I don't see anyone else with that problem.

Well, to play devils advocate, he very well could be using a custom ROM. But even if he was, I assure you that's not the problem.

Hate to sound like a noob, but what is unicon? I am rooted but haven't done anything crazy. Just using xposed.

    Please follow the instructions:

Please go to Settings > Apps > clear the cache and data and uninstall the updates for Google Play Service, Google App, and Google Play Store

Clear the cache partitions (press and hold the volume up and power button) > use the volume button to highlight the "cache partitions" , press power button to select okay

Highlight Reboot System now to reboot the phone

If issue persists, please submit a ticket on our support page (https://oneplus.net/support/ticket/submit)

Unicon is an Xposed module used for system wide icon customizations. Even if you're not using that particular module, if you're using any that modify Google app or Google Now related functions that could be causing the hangup.

Yeah if you can tell me what modules you are using, I will most likely be able to point out any that may be interfering.

Update. I just disabled everything through xposed. Rebooted the device and updated Google app. And it seems that it is something in xposed. Now have to install each xposed module separately and find out which one is at fault. I'll give an update soon. Thanks.
