Google needs to roll out dark mode for assistant and feed. They did start with feed, but rolled it back due to some inconsistencies.

you can enable force dark mode in the dev settings, but note some apps may look terrible (Facebook Lite for example). assistant doesn't, or at least not noticed anything so far.

My Assistant can no longer be opened by the voice prompt. I've done the standard attempts at fixing it to no avail. Can anyone assist?

try the following on your oneplus

    1. go to the applications section, where all the apps are located

    2. open "Google"

    3. once "Google" is opened, on bottom right corner click on "more ... " > Settings > Voice

    4. there should be a section called "ok Google". select "Voice match" below that section. enable the "Access with voice match" option

    hope that works!

I've been doing some research on that. I think the option for dark mode with respect to Google Assistant and Google now, (accessible when you slide left-to-right), is currently only available for Pixel phones(maybe only if they're on android 10 also).

I went to Developer section and activated the system-wide dark mode and that didn't activate the dark mode for Google assistant. Rest of phone was dark for the most part though. :)

I think we'll either have to wait for the following:

    1. Google Inc allows for a new assistant that offers the Theme > dark mode for other Androids ( aka non pixels)

    2. oneplus is able to do what Google Inc chose not to

Thanks Kevin, but it's no good. I've done the basics and it's still not working.

I've reinstalled it, retrained it multiple times, adjusted settings, and it doesn't work. At this point I think I'll be requiring a Google miracle to fix this issue.

I really want to help you get this "hey Google" , "ok Google" thing to work. it's a really useful tool from Google.

let's try to remove any security barriers that may be getting on the way.

    1. try temporarily disabling all or as much as possible too security hindrance that may be locking your phone took tightly. leave only the bare minimum, like on-screen fingerprint scanning or nothing of all. this is only temporary.

    2. then look on the above thread for the steps I recommended and others did to activate the "ok/hey Google" thing, when phone shows black screen.

    3. also, does the voice activate when you speak the words with the display on and on the homescreen, for example?

    4. do you try and perform this with or without a Bluetooth headset active? If with BT, try without.

    Thanks, Kevin
