[Submitted] Google Messages/OnePlus Messages: "Message expired or not available" After Update 10.3.0

Affects Google Messages and OnePlus Messages - unable to receive messages and group messages (SMS/MMS). Message says "Message expired or not available" after OTA update 10.3.0.
"Downloading failed, message expired or not available"

    Verizon 6T global, stock

SIM check says "Sorry, your current SIM card doesn't work on our network"

Could this be tied to the new MAC address issue?

I have been asking the same thing. Is there a way to revert back to Android 9? I am also sad they took away the 2 button navigation. I am not liking the gestures thing swiping from the side at all. Too many other apps have that and I have deleted emails on accident as well with not swiping correctly.

I was able to get the stock texting app that came with the OS to work. I'm not sure what, if any, setting I changed though to make it work. I tried a ton of little things.

UPDATE: replaced the SIM card and the issues are resolved!

Must be related to the change in the MAC address with the update... maybe?

Regardless, stop into any Verizon store and ask to replace the SIM card - wait a few minutes ror initialization and test with an MMS before you leave.

    Hope this helps others!

    From @The120Plus:

"I was experiencing this issue after the update as well. All my MMS messages were saying not available for download. I tried wiping the cache and resetting the APN settings. I uninstalled the Messages app and tested on the default messaging app. No luck. Finally though, I think I have found a fix. When I went into the APN settings for Verizon, I noticed that the MMS settings were blank. After I found this article (https://apn.gishan.net/en/apn/verizon/oneplus-6), I made the same adjustments to my APN settings and now everything is working fine, in both messaging apps."

Same issue as others: not receiving texts and pics. Could send both. OnePlus 6T on Verizon.

Your APN settings fixed issue for me. Thank you so much!!!

Well. No luck for me changing the APN. Did Verizon charge you for the Sim card?

I went to a corporate Verizon store, not an agent store. No charge when you tell them there is a "problem with the service."

Reference that you read on the OnePlus Community, XDA, and Reddit forums that SIM replacement seems to resolve this MMS/messaging problem on Verizon.

Show the rep the error messages in the messaging apps to be sure. Once they saw the errors, there was no doubt. After replacement, test it with an MMS from them or someone you know before you leave. Within a few minutes you will know for sure.

Day 2 and it's working fine, even after rebooting, so it appears to work.

    Good luck!
