    Hi again,
when starting to type a phone number, the dialer suggest a matching contacts from my list.
but some contacts are duplicate, i.e I get the same contact, with the same number, one with "-" separator and one without.
    i.e starting to type 050996...
I will get first match with 050-996- and a second match with 050996

Tried to run merge & fix from the google contact web page - no suggestions found.
Tried do the same on my old 6t phone - it works fine.

Yes this is because the contacts are saved in multiple places with minor differences. What you have done is fine (merging the same person contact in your phone).

So how can i prevent it?
I want the contact to be displayed (matched) only once. no matter if it's saved with "-" or not.

BTW, when searching the phone number on the "search contact & places" input - it matches only once. but when trying to type the number, it matches two as displayed above.

Yes, but in the past were the transferred from other areas, eg SIM cards, phone phone storage.

That's where the duplication occurs......well at least that's what happened in my case.

    No, not really.
never had a contact saved on my sim card.
this is a new phone, just configured it on Friday. i synced it with my google account and that is the only source for contacts.

In the contacts app tap the 3 dots next to your profile in the search bar and check "customize view". There's a "all contacts" and "customise" option, maybe check the "customise" option, you'll have the option to select which contacts you want to show, for example only contacts that were transferred from an older phone or various accounts etc. Check which are enabled, if any, and see if that may be the source of the same contact showing up twice. Assuming you didn't already check those settings of course.
