It's never been a two step process. Stop fighting your phone. Why are you turning it off manually?

    1. Battery has to do with the apps you have installed you can follow this https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/op3-3t-battery-and-heating-tips-nougat.542075/

To preform a clean flash download the 4.1.6 file from the OnePlus website directly from your phone browser.
boot into recovery (turn off phone, hold volume down + power)
click install from internal storage and click the 4.1.6 file.
After it's done, boot into recovery again and wipe data and cache

Turning on data connection has been a two step process since Nougat. He's right.

They made it two step to include the added feature of switching the data Sim.

You missed the question. Why are you turning it off? Second, what are the two steps? Inrun Nougat, and don't have such issues.

Clicking two buttons is apparently too many steps lol

    Okay.
    1) Dash charging led notification : Many people want the option to customize the dash charging notification color from blue to something else.

    2) Data connection : It's been a two step process to turn on data since Nougat. The two "steps" being, clicking on the data/network icon from the notification panel, and then choosing it to be "on".
There's also the added feature to switch data Sim.

Dunno why you don't have that.

And 'if' you're asking why he's turning the 'data' off, may be he's on an internet plan which has restrictions to how much data he can use.

1 .. how is this part of the discussion

2 .. I normally have WiFi on, if I turn WiFi off, LTE comes on. I turn WiFi on, LTE goes off. I don't worry too much about data usage on LTE since I tend to not allow background data and keep data saver on pretty often rather than turning LTE off. Any app that rapes my data without my permission gets uninstalled. ES File Manager was replaced for that, Quickpic, and many others.

Custom ROMs will let you toggle LTE in a single click should you still decide to manually it off (which doesn't help you when you do turn it on, so I would tame your apps). You can also have LTE off any time the screen is off.

And yes, the question was why manually turn it off since Android wants to be connected all the time.

I seem to remember that, but I never turn it off, I just turn WiFI ON. It's easier ... and I have single click toggles turned on (a feature OOS lacks)

Cool. I was just trying to answer your question like @Android450

Apparently whatever you do, that particular user (including myself) doesn't lol
