OnePlus 8 Pro OxygenOS 10.5.5 update brings partial fix for 'green-tint' screen issue, plus touchscreen sensitivity tweaks

    Update 4 | 22-04-2020
Oneplus contacted me and is investigating the issues stated below. If there is any news, I will update this starting post.

    Update 3 | 21-04-2020
Made the decision to return the phone. The overall quality doesn't feel solid enough to justify this price. A shame, because I really love the software, but a screen seems like an important part of a smartphone ;-)

The green screen and 'black crush' issues have been picked up by a review site also. Check it out here.

    Update 2 | 20-04-2020
I made some Netflix comparisons and this is the worst Black Crush I have ever seen. Seriously considering returning this phone. DC Dimming is off.

    Update 1 | 20-04-2020
I tried DC Dimming turning on: Utilities - OnePlus Laboratory - DC Dimming -> On, but a lot of colours were indeed not how they should be. Especially the 'black crush' in movies and WhatsApp colour was way off. I thought this was the solution, but it seems I gained new problems.

    --------------------

I noticed a very green screen when the brightness isn't high. I made a comparison with my Note 10+ and the difference is very noticeable on low brightness. I understand that these screens aren't 100% the same, but I don't believe green should be so dominant. I tried different display modes (and 120 vs 60 Hz), same results. I thought these 8 Pro screens were some of the best?

Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback. Our team is currently investigating these reports to identify the best solutions, and we will issue updates as soon as they are ready.

Regarding green tint, when the brightness of an AMOLED display is turned very low, some users may notice some discoloration that disappears when the screen brightness increases. We are working to resolve this in our next OTA.

Mainly in dark environments or when the lights are dim. During the day and outside it is not noticeable.

Ok, I actually tested it in dark environment with low brightness. I don't get this issue. Tested it too with the app Display Tester where you get some different kind of greys.. Again, nothing.

So you're screen doesn't show any green tint? Is it possible to make a photo of that? I'm very curious what the difference is. I will post a picture too of "Dark grey" colour in the app Display Tester.

So this is what I got. On one picture there is a little bit to see but you can't notice with the eye. Well, I think this is what all screens should look like. Do you agree.?

Seems ok to me, what do you think? Maybe it's mainly because of ceratin apps that colours shift (like Chrome)?

I found my solution and it's a big difference. Turning DC dimming on changed my colours entirely (for the good). See the difference.

I'm very much enjoying my OP ;-) and thanks for your time and testing. Much appreciated and now I have my solution and it's a game changer for me, because more funny colours were happening in the drop down menu etc (when viewing in bad lighting conditions).
