I returned my Exynos S20+ to get the OnePlus 8 Pro. I'm starting to regret that decision now.

    Got some issues also.
Maybe not so visible in daylight as in the evening.

Firstly, let me say I'm writing this with my tail between my legs - I've been defending one plus to the hills about the display, thinking I had a good panel and the others are just faulty panels.

As much as I don't have the green colour issue, I have noticed something when comparing with my iPhone XS max that I was literally just posting for sale thinking all was good.

The blacks at a low brightness about 15-20% have this horrible red colour to them. I'm not going to harp on about it - I know there are already posts about display issues (various) and its already been bought up.

I will return the phone at least allow OnePlus to put right the issues and would happily consider another one upon reassurance the issues are resolved with the display. - I actually think the phone is great, but the panel issues are frustrating.

This is not to knock OnePlus, but to hopefully provide others with another way of checking the issue, if you are not seeing the green colour issue (I wasn't and still don't) :-

Hi, there's mine. I've contacted OnePlus and they told me to send it back (replacement). Sorry for the bad quality, took the picture too fast.

This issue has something to do with how poorly the display handles lower brightness levels. My old Oneplus X would crush blacks at brightness set to below 30%, whereas 8 Pro crushes blacks when the brightness is set below 90%. Since most people have automatic brightness set on (hovering at 40-70% brightness levels indoors) it's a noticeable flaw.

I don't understand at the moment, how the phones were even allowed out the door, I thought I got away with my panel but obviously not. I wonder if others that reported no issue have the similar red issue like I did (above), but aren't seeing the green tinge / burn in / image retention

OnePlus has no presence where I live, and I was planning to buy the 8 pro from their US website (would be my first OnePlus). These issues are being reported a lot from what I see, and I'm holding back until OnePlus confirms that the issues are either software and fixable, or hardware and won't exist in the coming batches. Since OnePlus doesn't operate in my country, it seems very risky to buy a phone that I might have to return.

Guys please help with test this another issue, it's crazy behavior and I bet many of you will have problem. It's much better measurable then less or more subjective green tint or uniformity.
    - Use the testing 5% grey image from here https://www.rtings.com/images/test-materials/2016/5-percent.png
    - Go to fullscreen image in black room.
    - Turn off auto brightness and slide slowly brightness slider from lowest to highest. I'm wondering if you have this ok.
    - For me, a can see some gray around 0%, then around 5% it's almost black. Around 20 to 30% it goes very bright and grey color. Around 30 to 40% brightness goes to almost black. 40% is dark same as 5%. Around 50 or 60% it jumps fast to the same brightness levels as around 30% and finally continues smoothly to 100%

Please test this and help us to decide between replacement or return. Especially those of you who thinks they don't have issues.

This is what I have. What am I supposed to do. It's all well and good saying when do we used our phones like this. But in bed I turn brightness right down. Or it can be seen in video playback.

This is using that rtings grey picture.
The pinker images were at say 60 % brightness where things started getting weirder. They were taking by a Note 9 it didnt look that pink to my eyes.
I havent really used the phone much as I have been preparing my Data on my Note 9 trying to shrink it down to fit. Note 9 has 512GB.

I am experiencing a pretty bad image retention as well (OnePlus 8 Pro arrived 2 days ago).

Before taking the pictures I did this:
    - removed everything from the google feed tab, so that it would be full dark gray (dark mode is on).
    - swiped right to the home page.
    - left the home page still for one minute.
    - swiped left back to the google feed tab.

    These are the results:

App icons, clock and also weather widget are definitely there. Is anyone having the same issue?
