This is not a issue... Its a black smearing effect of amoled panels. Every amoled display have this characteristics... It doesn't matters whatever the brand... When dark mode is enabled all the pixels are turn off due to black background, so when pixels turn on for gray or other color they took some time to turn on this will cause the black smearing effect... This effect doesn't appear in white mode because panel pixels never turn off though.

But most of the samsung premium phones doesn't have this. It disturbs me a lot. I will go for return.

Because may be they are using the dark gray color in dark mode that always keeps turn on the pixels and brightness level is also factors... Replacement will not help you... I have tasted in many brands like Samsung, realme, google pixel 4a and etc who have amoled displays.

If there is excessive tint issue you can go for replacement but black smearing effect is not a issue... Its a effect when dark mode is pinch black thats why dark mode help the OnePlus devices to help in improve battery performance.

If you need more information go to YouTube, and search for "black smearing effect on amoled display".

OnePlus doesn't even consider this as an issue. All they have done for 8 Pro is to put a limit on the minimum brightness of the display so that you can't notice it. This is a hardware issue and has something to do with display calibration and it will not get fixed with any OTA update.
