At low brightness, the screen has green tint all over it. This has become more prominent with the latest update. Is this software or hardware issue? Should I replace my phone?

I got the phone as part of launch day offer. If I replace, I won't have a phone for 2 weeks and If I return, I loose the launch day offer.

normally, a dimmer color is done by a narrower pulses, but at full voltage, so the led comes all the way on but only for short moments. DC dimming reduces voltage instead of pulse width. This will save power but the LED doesn't come all the way on and the calibration won't be correct anymore.

The recent updates have not addressed the issue. I doubted they'd ever fix it. But after some digging, I figured out it was software related, I could make the green tints go away and the grey scale look normal now by adjusting the contrast and strength. I don't know if it'll affect the performance though , what I used for the work around is somehow like putting a layer over the screen. Good news is kernel for the 8 series is open sourced now and obviously you could adjust the screen yourself, if op is not able to fix the issue.

Yeah, I could do this or that but don't you think that you shouldn't be doing this after paying 1000 bucks for a phone.

don't get me wrong, I'm on your side. I think oneplus should do their job. but I'm not that convinced they would be able to fix it soon. I heard issues from oneplus 7t haven't been fixed since last year. I'm so much let down, too. I come back to one plus for its display and now you see they screwed up. I'm just saying at least we could 'fix it' ourselves.

I get it. I am thinking of replacing my phone but their replacement process is outdated. I won't have a phone for like couple of weeks. The other option was to return and order myself but then I loose the launch day offer.

Has there been any official statement from One Plus?
