AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED DO NOT TRY THIS I DID NOT GET IT TO WORK AND I AM A DEVELOPER AND HAVE ROOTED AND FLASHED MANY TIMES

Ok so this is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. It looks like I certainly did something. After I followed this guide here is what happened. I am left on the OnePlus boot screen that says powered by android at the bottom. After a couple of minutes the phone shows up on my computer and all my data is still there. I can turn the screen off and on with the power button but it is still on the boot screen the one before the boot animation.

    So here is an update.

It looks like the bootloader was unlocked without wiping data but the system was messed up so I decided to just flash recovery and root.

After the weird error I just reflashed 33r did a factory reset and it worked but my phone says I am actually 25r and there is no update available. Is my phone really kessed up from that.

My apps are gone but my "sdcard" is still intact with all my data there

Everything seems to be working fine

I have to advise against it. I am very competent in things like this and it left my phone in a very weird state.

My phone thought that 25r was the latest update and every time I tried to flash an update it failed.

In order to fix it I had to do a complete wipe off everything and start from scratch. Since I had no data I unlocked the bootloader the old way and flashed custom recovery and flashed paranoid android rom

You could also format /system, and reflash 25R cm11s too, ;)

Yup could've but since it was a fresh system and my data was gone anyway (I made a backup first) I figured I would try new roms loving paronoid android so fast

Is not that it was messed up real bad in the sense that it couldn't be guided but this is definitely not for a beginner.

I had to use OTG in recovery mode and flash from a usb stick. I have been rooting installing custom roms and developing for Android for years and I have no idea what happened this time

Is there any hope of cracking it with like a one click root? Like how there are ones for the SG3.

Probably not a "no wipe" version at least for now. Over on XDA here is probably a 50% success rate so until it is basically successful all the time I don't think it will happen.

I would not guess soon. Maybe around when the invites are gone so more people could look into it. I wouldn't even care if the boot loader stays locked, just the root would be fine.

If you just want root with locked bootloader and no custom recovery I think I can help you with that. Will write it up and send it later
