Please be aware that OxygenOS 4.5.15 is still based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

If you want to upgrade your system to the latest stable 4.5.15 build and keep root, you will have to
    (0) reboot into recovery,
    (1) flash the full OTA package through the recovery,
    (2) flash your favorite root software -- be it Magisk or SuperSu --,
    (3) wipe dalvik and cache, and only then
    (4) reboot to the system.
Make sure you have the flashable ZIP for your rooting solution beforehand somewhere in the internal storage of your phone. As for the system update, your should have received the full OTA package (as it is bigger that 1 GB), and it will be located in the .Ota folder of your internal storage.

Oreo will only come with OxygenOS 5.x series, which currently is only released as Open Beta 1 (and beta software will not be OTA-pushed through the System updates above a stable version). If you want to test the Oreo OxygenOS Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 5, your would read OxygenOS Open Beta 1 (Android O) for the OnePlus 5

I have sucesssfuly roted my OnePlus.

Now there is new system update that I need to install. AS I could understand the root will be lost after that.
What do I need to do to get the root access back after system update ?

Hi! -- Just make sure to flash your preferred rooting solution (Magisk, SuperSU...) after applying the full system update if you're going from 4.5.x to a newer revision of 4.5.x (i.e. 4.5.14 to 4.5.15).

Someone in the telegram group advised me to reset my phone (after flashing the latest twrp) and then restoring from Titanium (custom apps)...
    I'm a bit confused now.

Yeah, I've read a bit more about that on XDA, and it certainly does not look like a walk in a park for rooted guys... :) Note that I'm on the same boat as you are (stock OOS 4.5.15, encrypted, rooted, with TWRP), so I'm interested on the subject.

Not sure to understand everything. If I read correctly, if we're to flash the full ROM (and we would have to, because we are rooted) and we reverted to stock recovery for the time of upgrade, then we're in no luck -- a factory reset is required at the end on installation.

An upgrade -- using full ROM -- through a compatible TWRP seem doable without losing internal storage... but only if we're decrypted. That's not my case, probably not yours either.

... Still doing some reading before attempting an upgrade. ;)

[Help needed - stuck at installing SuperSU]

I'm on OxygenOS Open Beta 3 Root Oneplus 5.
However, in TWRP, it says 0 MB internal storage and I cannot locate any files - not even SuperSU. Therefore I cannot root my phone. What do I do? I followed all steps (I'm a software developer, so I'm not really a noob in following steps).
I do have the .zip on my internal storage, but my TWRP says 0 MB and it cannot locate the file. Actually all I see is a bunch of folders but with no data at all.

[Fixed] Apprently the TWRP didn't work for my updated phone. Take alook at this if you're on Android 8 (Oreo) http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-root-oneplus-5-android-8-0-oreo/

How can I update to Oxygen 5.0.1 ?

    I'm decrypted (no_verity) and actually on Oxygen 5.0 .

It says that if my boot loader is unlocked that the update would probably fail...

Is there any way to relock the bootloader after you have installed magisk without wiping the phone? I just wanna get rid of the message on bootup that says bootloader is unlocked.

    Anyone understand what I mean?

Not sure you will be able to do so, as installing Magisk tempers with the boot image. If you succeeds in relocking your bootloader, you most certaintly encounter a lesser-pleasant warning message that can prevent your device from booting.
