    Thanks, that makes total sense.

I've been enjoying my oneplus 5, so much so, I thought I'd get another for my mother. There are a lot of refurbished phones out there on the secondary market and I wondered if there was any way to check whether a handset was brand new or refurbished?

I know with computers you can check the SMART info on a hard disk drive to see its status by accessing the firmware, for example how many power on cycles it has been through, and total uptime etc. Is there something similar for oneplus devices? I came across this thread: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/secret-codes-on-oneplus.491543/ and wondered if I could access a service menu to check this?
