If the hidden collection folder can be seen scrolling down in gallery, then what's the purpose naming it hidden.

I've just upgraded from OP6, and you've done such thing.
    Atleast such to your basics.

Would request to get the hidden collections accessible from the 3 dots, in top right corner.

Hidden collection shouldn't be locked. I don't even have an option to do so.

There is a thing called Hidden Space which has a passcode but that is for hiding apps.
Are you perfectly sure Hidden Collection in gallery is asking for a password?
    Could you share a screenshot?

It doesn't allow a screenshot. But I'm 100% sure it's the hidden collection asking for a pin #

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app allowed me to create a pin. However every photo in there was deleted...

Turn on Cloud sync in Gallery, it can help restore the cloud saved data and photos

Unfortunately the things I lost weren't in any cloud. I never imagined my phone would just delete them....

As far as I have seen my photos no longer exist after I moved them into the hidden collection that was bugged and had no pin to reset

I uninstalled gallery and reinstalled it. It allowed me to make a new pin but the hidden collection was empty

Okay, you can try this, connect your phone to a laptop via USB, give permissions to storage and see if the photos are visible
