The system app called "Media storage" on my Oneplus 9 pro uses 50 Gb of storage. What is this app and why is it using soooo much? Is there a way to fix this. Never had this on an android

Some apps can use that storage. Paper bins and so on. Trouble is finding them. Any app with deleted files, files that is encrypted and hidden and so on?

These kinds of thing. Paper bins. Recently deleted files and much more. Here is just a sample.

Removal of recently deleted in gallery app.

Any kind of included app or 3rd party app making use of that storage could be the reason.

Not only paper bins and stuff and actual used media storage... But the problem is that "media storage" that just index the media files is counted twice. This size is somewhat delayed too. Even if more than half media is wiped everywhere the app media storage is delayed until re-syncing.

A sample from a Samsung S21+... Media Storage grows depending on used media stored on the device. As far as I can see there is no difference in how Oneplus and Samsung sees the storage.

So the major problem is the seemingly wasted "double" space and used storage by "deleted" files.
