Wouldn't have been better to take a picture of the Vessel with the sun (light source ) at your back ?
Personally , I enjoy looking at brighter images.

    For the top photo:
    - the contrast worked well. The lighting guides the viewer’s attention. There isn’t much over or under exposure which I think could have actually added to this photo.

    For the bottom picture:
    - the structure to the left curves in a direction that conflicts with the subject.
    - the Vessel was taken at a slight angle which makes it seem like a mistake. I’m guessing it wasn’t taken with the sun behind you because it was reflecting too much off the building, though I would have tried to find a better position to take the photo and with a more level shot. The buildings in the background do take away from the main subject too much. Maybe get closer to the Vessel for the shot, which may also help with catching more of the detail. Parts of the Vessel were to dark and should be lightened up to make it pop more. There’s also a bit of overexposure at the bottom of it.

the High line picture actually tells a story of a eldery man standing in the dark, facing the light. Sad story.

I wish I could have attended the photowalk!

The 2nd picture of the Vessel, if shot on ProMode, the photographer missed out on straightening the image with the help of the incline line (green colored) which appears in ProMode.

The photographer should have tried reducing the shutter speed or increasing the ISO for a brighter image.

The image would have been picture perfect if these were taken into account.

Nice job, Brady. That black and white picture in the opening was beautiful....a very peaceful and serene sunset. I hope to be part of the next photo walk (my current photo skills are sorely lacking).

Hard to make out the scale of the Vessel with the person in the foreground juxtaposed with the buildings on the sides.

My invite for the NYC Photowalk was hidden in my spam folder. Sorry I missed this. Anyway, while I was in the vicinity of the walk--just outside of B&H Photo--I got a nice lens flare off of one of the new Hudson Yards buildings. This photo was meant for a B&H fan who lives in another state.

Although this is less of a critique on the photos themselves, I'm surprised you guys did not find better pictures on the high line. Having been there my self only a few weeks ago I know there are some really good photo opportunities there. I think you guys really missed out on some of them as the two photos posted there really don't show the beauty of the high line.

One critique I have for the first photo is that it is a little unoriginal. It seems to just be a black and white photo in an urban setting with some dramatic lighting. It is definitely a very nice picture, just a little generic and easily recreated. I do however, commend the user that saw the photo and took it as I imagine it looked like a pretty unordinary scene from the sidewalk.

My critique for the second picture is similar to the first. The picture has good lighting but is still just a picture of a monument. The real beauty is monument itself and not necessarily the picture. Most pictures taken of something already beautiful will look good as long as the camera is not bad.

    Those are my critiques anyway.

The colors are beautiful, though the camera seems to be struggling with the weak lighting. I'd suggest downloading the Google Camera APK and trying "Night Sight". Here's some pictures I took while biking at the Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, NY. Obviously, the pictures aren't great (heck, I even got my finger in 1). I'm just using them as an example of what a bit of software can do,and that OnePlus' hardware is actually more capable than some may claim.
I bet you can guess which pictures were taken with Night Sight, and which weren't!
