Can't believe the new phone will be marketed to compete with the 2 so early in its life cycle . It will surely be to appeal to a different type of customer - smaller size or cheaper spec. I just hope Oneplus grow their customer support faster than they grow their sales of phones.

Pretty risky statement in that interview. But as long as there is no official announcement for the newer Model, we should just root for the OP 2

This is incredibly interesting to hear about. Thing is they're shooting for the end of this year. I think OnePlus said something once about not being able to support two phones in a single year because would be to much for them. I'm thinking this second phone will be very similarly spec'd to the OPT with just a smaller screen or something. We know that the phones don't look identical because Carl was impressed with the second phones design. I think there might even be a smaller, cheaper phone similarly spec'd to the OPO. Like a OPT lite edition.

That would be disastrous. OPT gamble have to be settled first!! OP2+ would add to their flop shows!!

I like how Carl Pei thought this other phone was something he wanted as his daily driver. That means he didn't even consider the OP2 at first but then it turned out nice.

Part of oneplus successes, at least, is due to the uncarrier movements, e.g., from T-mobile. Otherwise, who would know oneplus? So take a good care to this opportunity and do not blow this up ...

Ok, so they made few mistakes with the OP2, but I hope they play this move smartly. Firstly the invite system will allow most users to get their phones around autumn(dunno, plain guess) and as they announce this new device at the end of the year that's not a big of a time difference. If this new OP2.1 gets better specs and fixes issues with what users were complaining, this is going to be the OP2 killer. Don't make anything stupid and don't piss off users, pl0x. Just make it clear as soon as possible, as I myself already am not certain whether to get OP2 or not and this new announcement makes me wonder even harder.
