Home & back button not working

  1. AleKra Donut Mar 18, 2018

    AleKra, Mar 18, 2018 :
    Hey

This morning my mobile shut down because the battery was to low. After restart the home and the menu buttons are not working anymore. When I enter an app I cant navigate to the home screen with the home button and I cant enter the app selection with the menu button.

There is a feedback when I press the buttons but nothing happens. Only the back button works.

Does anyone experiencing the same problemes or knows how to help??

    Greetings
    Alessandro

Hey. What do you mean with "from recovery"? Wiped the cache from the memory settings. Didnt worked out. Noticed that the buttons even wont work if I enable the screen buttons und not the hardware buttons. An d I cant acces the settings from the pulldown menu.
Something weird is going on -_-

    Try this:

    1. Turn the OnePlus 3T off
    2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Power and Home buttons at the same time until the Android logo shows up and the phone vibrates
    3. Then let go of the Power button and continue to hold the other buttons
    4. Use the volume buttons to scroll down to highlight Wipe Cache Partition
    5. Press the Power button
    6. Scroll down to Yes and press the Power button
    7. Scroll to Reboot System Now and press Power
    8. Your OnePlus 3T will reboot with a cleared system cache

Try going into Settings --> Buttons and see if your Home & Back buttons were set to another function.

Perfect answer. This happens for me too. Avoid setting another function for hardware keys.

The settings adjustments are only for long- and double press. But the function set for example long press the home button are not working either. Normaly the search assistemt would pop up.

    Its totally strange.

I cant pull down the top bar menu to the second stage. It just stops.

And notifications are just sounds but no notificationcenter and no LED notifications.

Nope. I watched a youtube clip. Than I plugged it in to reload. After several minutes I startet it up and then it was like it is now.
    :/

Would it help to reset to factory settings?

You can try a factory reset. If the problem persists after performing a factory reset, then I think it might be a hardware issue.

I had the same issue. Tried everything under the sun. The only thing that worked for me was sliding down the top menu, and turning "gaming mode" on and off again.

I had the same issue on my 5T once Android 9 rolled out, the gaming mode on and off fixed the issue.

Hi All - I have the exact same issues. I accidentally let my battery die overnight then when plugging it back into a charger and starting up, my phone was in this state. The home and back button refused to work. The font sizes became a lot smaller and I can't slide down the top menu !

I've looked into the settings for Gaming mode but I can't find where to 'switch on/off' again. Please help ! I really dont want to reboot
