What a good idea, I'd quite like a tablet but the only options these days are iPad or Samsung and I don't want either of those.

The question should be who is actually making any headway with tablets?
Apple, Samsung, and Amazon ( fire) are the key players, everything else just appears to be treading water.

I agree with you especially with Amazon fire which has the entry levels covered. Asus, Huawei, MI and Lenovo are also trying as you say

If you're a developing phone manufacturer and your phones are selling good, stick to a single product till you reach a milestone. Going in too many directions being a small company isn't a good idea. They've already experienced it with OnePlus X (bringing a mid tier phone).

That's not completely true.. If you're tech is genuinely impressive, then it should be developed in a different formats also.. A great portfolio develops after lots of trial and error only..

I agree. Oneplus should come out with a computing device not called a smartphone. It would be a nice experiment to indulge in. I still have my Nexus 7 from years back and find that it performs better than most of the other tablets in its form factor today. Pixel slate is a good idea and concept but it's too expensive ($600 for a device with a Celeron Processor). I want a solid Android tablet that I can use generally and multitask on... and that doesn't run iOS.

Whatever your reasons, Huawei makes some of the most amazing devices. The Huawei Mediapad M5 is top class and priced well too. You could give it a try. Only thing I don’t like about Huawei is their decision to not allow bootloader to be unlocked. Although they claim it is to protect user experience, I have my reservations about it.

Alternatively, Xiaomi makes amazing devices too. The Mi Pad 4 is an excellent device at an unbelievable price.

I would like to bring the thread back to the front. Really interesting tablets don't exist at the moment and I think OnePlus would be able to change that.

I would like to see something in the size with 10" and with 12". 12" with stylus would be cool.

Important would be that it would finally be a tablet with a high-end CPU and 8GB RAM. With other manufacturers, you only see tablets with poor performance (for whatever reason).

I think that here a new model every year is absolutely sufficient. 3 years of software support would be really cool, but longer could not hurt with a good tablet. But I could also imagine that Lineage OS would support a tablet from OnePlus.

    What a rubbish reply!

I'd LOVE a OnePlus tablet & so would many others. if you don't want one you don't need to buy one, but many others of us would really find it useful!

Android tablets already failed. Apple dominates that market.
And who really needs a tablet these days anyway other than creators.

    This is SO wrong!

There would be a great demand for a tablet the quality of OnePlus. it would be better than Samsung & rival Apple.

Public speakers, teachers & musicians would love a good quality tablet & more besides

I'm 100% sure that OnePlus would make a great product that every tablet user wished they had bought, if only they knew it existed.

The reality is though that the demand for a tablet is getting lower and lower now that phones are getting and better and better. In history, Android tablets have failed and Apple started dominating the tablet market. From the very few that would still buy a tablet, the average consumer choses Apple over Android with that history in mind.

So even though that I know OnePlus would make a product that every tablet user SHOULD buy. The market is to small, and the demand is getting lower and lower for a small company like OnePlus to take a gable on.
