    Hi All,

I think that is very important question:
How is the dual SIM works in Oneplus 8 Pro?

    1. Can you get dual 4G at the same time from different network providers?
    2. Or 1 sim on 4G and the other on 5G?

    Please let us know.

I looking for the same info... For USA at least, it looks like it won't be dual-nanosim out of the box but via an OTA update later. I want commitment from OnePlus on this. As far as I'm aware, it lists that it will support all modes once enabled.

It depends on the country, USA seems to be single sim even at 4G, Europe is dual 4G.

How Likely & How long will it take to get this OTA update take? I dont want to return the phone I really like it.... but if this is going to take months or possibly never happen.... that was the whole point for me of having this phone

*Single 5G SIM support only. Upgrade for 4G/5G and 4G/4G Dual SIM support will be implemented via OTA update. Please confirm 5G network availability with your carrier. "

This is my understanding of the situation:

    1) USA unlocked models have dual-SIM COMPLETELY disabled. They still have the physical 2 SIM tray, but the second SIM cannot be used. This is regardless of whether 5G or 4G is used for the main SIM. The settings app states that dual-SIM functionality will be added in a later OTA. There is no ETA for this that I have seen or heard about. 5G can be used with the single SIM, at least on T-Mobile. When dual-SIM is finally enabled, I don't know if it will be 5G/5G, 5G/4G, or 4G/4G.

    2) In Europe, dual-SIM is enabled, but 5G functionality is disabled. I believe they plan to add 5G support later.

Personally I own the US unlocked 8 Pro and I was shocked that dual-SIM was disabled. I had misunderstood the website and thought it was disabled only for 5G, but in the US that's not the case. Dual-SIM is one of the main reasons I buy unlocked OnePlus phones, I have one day left to return it and am still debating on doing so. I know they have promised to add the functionality, but there's no update on when, and I'm having to carry 2 phones while I wait. For the price, it's ludicrous. FWIW I don't care about 5G, I wish they could just give me 4G/4G dual SIM like Europe. Very poor show from OnePlus.

2 4G sim card work guys but both must be 4g , if you add one 5g and one 4g or both 5g it won't work , both sim card should be 4g , only one 5g card work 2nd 5g card will be work with future update

Read the post before yours, it depends on the model, it's not as simple as you say.

I just got my Oneplus 8 Pro and like some of us I did not pay attention to the small letters; therefore I was also shock to see that I paid $ 1000.00 for a dual sim card phone that is not really a dual sim card yet; It's like telling oneplus I'll pay you ONLY 75% and ones dual sim card is available I'll pay you the balance (sarcastically speaking) I dropped my note 10 plus 5G just to be able to carry ONLY one phone and after $ 1000.00 I still cant!!!! THE WORSE IS I SEE SEVERAL THREATS MORE THAN 1 MONTH OLD AND NOT UPDATES FOR OTA YET. Not even a reliable ETA. My $ 1000.00 is there pocket now there is not hurry!!!! I am returning this phone!!!!

Same here and it's another reason I won't buy from TMobile who restricts OnePlus phones to a single sim. I was also unpleasantly shocked that my 8pro bought on launch day direct from OnePlus was 'temporarily' restricted to a single sim.

Granted my 2nd sim is backup only, but still.

I wanted to ask a question, anyone who might have tried could advise or share your thoughts.Seems like EU,India,Asia dual sim 4g/4g is working onlly in North American variant it is disabled and Oneplus has no ETA.I was wondering if unlocking bootloader and flashing stock EU/India/Asian rom could solve this issue?Being NA variant phone bands are no issue and we may get the dual sim working(if it is disabled due to software tweak since Oneplus says will be activated in a future OTA).I feel disappointed Oneplus played this unfair game with us livng in North America. We are paying more for the phone(12gb ndian variant is 770ish and in China is 840) but an essential function is disabled.Carrying two phone is not convenient. If you have tried please advise.I unlocked my bootloader.I tried flashing EU/Indian/Asian Rom and got error.I remember my Oneplus 7t,Oneplus 6T was Chinese variant,I bought from Chinese seller shipping to US but with global rom and Tmobile and At&t worked fine with Volte and wifi calling.

Here is it,I flashed my North American variant Oneplus 8 pro with MSM unbrick tool for European Variant to change the software from IN11AA(international/North American) to IN11BA(European),but it is the same issue persists and we still get one sim card active on Sim slot 1.Inititally I thought it might be just a software restriction. But I think there is more to this.If I am wrong please correct me or if somone has found a way to get it working please share as I do not understand much about software(not my educational background) but I tried. My friend bought Chinese version Oneplus 8 pro, unlocked bootloader flashed European rom (removing Hydrogen OS which is used in China) and dual sim works for him(I am really jealous as he paid $830 equivalent to chinese yuan,we paid $1000+ and gets to use dual sim not having to carry two phones),although he won't get band 66 and 71(for Tmobile).Getting sick of Oneplus games now.Hope oneplus can release the OTA soon.

so I spent $1000 on a dual SIM phone and can only utilize 1 SIM? what the heck OnePlus!! I, much like other people actually utilize the dual SIM functionality. I have 1 for my phone calls and texts and 1 for my data. now I have to go without my data on a $1000 phone. how does that even make sense!?

luckily for me I didn't get rid of my 7 pro. but this is just plain ridiculous. I've had OnePlus phones since the 3T and never had a problem utilizing the dual SIM. heck that was the main reason I started buying OnePlus devices in the first place. dual SIM and it was a cheaper option without compromising on the specs too much. now neither one of those statements are true. this is a sad shame.

my phone did an update shortly after I turned it on for the first time and set it up and yet still no 2nd SIM enablement. where is this so called OTA update to enable the 2nd SIM and when is it coming?

I have the in2020 and my wife has the in2025.

Dual SIM cards work in the in2025 (Chinese version) from eBay.

However about 2 months ago the Verizon sim card started to have issues win the OnePlus 7 pro. It's having the same issue in the OnePlus 8 pro.

when in single sim mode it works fine but when in double sim mode it won't receive incoming texts. But calls and outgoing texts work fine. Same on both phones and worked all the time until about a month or two ago.

But dual SIM seems to work fine on Chinese model except for that text issue.
