How many years of support and updates?

OnePlus only made that statement to one specific device: the OnePlus One.

After that, OnePlus already said they wouldn't commit to any specific time frame.

Know your facts before trying to act smart.

The OnePlus 5T will get 2-3 years of support, if not more

    By custom ROM developers

instead of waiting for an updates from OnePlus, try installing and using custom ROMs from XDA. Am using Resurrection Remix ROM which is far better than Oxygen OS.

Also, please note that OnePlus still provides warranty if you are using Custom ROMs.

Cmon lets not talk about statements .. And i am not acting smart. You also know what Happened with Oneplus 2 nougat update. i was one of the early adopters of Oneplus One. I own Oneplus 3T and 5 too. But this company have given too many false commitments... so 18 months is fair. Because Oneplus 3T will have final update with android O and then just small security patch updates...and as u can see 80 % cupcakes only ask for new version of Android they never ask for Security updates so...

The OP is asking for how long will OnePlus support it, not for how long do we expect it to happen.

There is only one possible answer: We have no idea and OnePlus won't tell us.

    ~Until OP7 comes out
Most likely OP5 and 5T will get N>O>P, so in 5T's case only O>P. But in terms of updates approximately 2 years.

Which was not much to begin with - June 2017 through December 2018. So far, the most successful OnePlus device, the 3T had a lifespan of OS updates from November 2016 to December 2017. Nice huh...

HIS company? OnePlus was created by BBK and Oppo so they can break into Western markets, something that Oppo failed to do. Carl/Pete run the OnePlus division at the upper management's direction. They have little to no say (maybe software they do) about next phone's design language or release dates or future strategies. OnePlus 5 is a carbon copy of Oppo R11 and OnePlus 5T is an even more exact copy of Oppo R11S. The two companies share same office building in Shenzhen (different floors). It is really that simple.

Official statement from OP. Google it. They stated that updates will not stop after Oreo, but it's the last major Android update for OP3/3T.

If you call security updates every 3-4 months that are at least a month behind, I guess you're right, there will be updates...

There will be other stuff too. If you are not happy then flahs a custom ROM, or buy iPhone.
