Why is this thread not locked for being a lie? The build date you are changing is the OS build date not the phone's manufacture date. And it makes no difference what the OS build date is. Changing it will not get you the update any faster.

Btw, Carl Pei just posted this:

Of course it does. That is when the latest CM11s update was built. Again, this thread is nothing but lies and misunderstanding.

    Oh lol.

This guide is a real sh*t, because editing the file can only help us to CHANGE TEXT WHICH IS DISPLAYED ON OUR SCREEEENS.

Never. Just never. In whoooooole IT world. NEVER statement "Build date" meant the day your device was manufactured. Build date means the date, when your software, kernel or OS was built/gathered/certificated. The day, when all hardware was gathered in one brick - called MANUFACTURE DATE. And it is shown on some labels under battery/cover or in serial number of your device.

By the way, your phone got an uneque number, which is stored online. And this number is you indentifier in whoooole phone network. And any changes to your phone, except re-erasing your framework number(or something like that, don't know how it is called correctly) won't help you in getting higher in a queue for OTA or recieve it immediatly. Only re-erasing this indentifier will move you in a queue somehow. Because when you'll get a new one - online service will put you randomly to a new place in a queue.

I saw my device notifying me of the latest update based on lollipop. I put it to download and went to sleep. When I woke up and tried to install the update, it has disappeared. My android version is still 4.4.4. Has this happened to anyone else ?
