If you say there is another post this, I posted this knowing that there are some, but I have felt that they were missing some things. I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS, THANKS ARE THANKFUL, BUT THE REAL THANKS GO TO THE SOURCE.
EVEN IF YOU ROOT YOUR ONEPLUS ONE THE WARRANTY IS STILL VALID (only the Chinese model has no warranty) SOURCE (plus they also add "-frying your CPU due to over-clocking will void the warranty-", so watch out if you root wishing you can overclock)

Video Tutorials Thanks To OPO Owners:

    (Thanks to TheNexusGeneration/Phil Bourget!)

    • Download and setup Android SDK on the computer. [Check here for a guide]
    • Enable USB Debugging Mode on OnePlus One. Navigate to Settings>> Developer Options to enable USB Debugging Mode.
    • Download the latest official TWRP recovery image file for OnePlus One. openrecovery-twrp-2.x.x.x-bacon.img
    File name: UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.xx.zip

      • If you want CWM replace TWRP with CWM, here is a xda member unofficial version (Tested both on 16GB and 64GB): (File was removed google a new one). Just replace cwm.img instead of twrp.
PhilZ Touch: (File was removed google a new one) (Different installation!)
How to root OnePlus One and install TWRP recovery

Rename openrecovery-twrp-2.x.x.x-bacon.img file to twrp.img. Now copy it to the platform-tool folder in the Android SDK directory on the computer. Note that the location of the TWRP image should be the same as ADB and Fastboot files

Move UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.xx.zip to the OnePlus One

Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable, which comes along with the handset

Navigate to platforms-tools folder and launch cmd window within the folder. To do so, move the mouse pointer to an empty space, press Shift on the keyboard then do a right-click on the mouse. Select Open command window here from the list

When the command prompt is launched, type the following command and press Enter

    adb reboot bootloader

OnePlus One will boot into bootloader mode

    Step-7: Then unlock bootloader,

    fastboot oem unlock

Warning! This wipes your phone user data!

Reboot into phone, enter development options, and uncheck Update CM Recovery. Thanks to Sparkitus and mmollat for this fix for some.

    Repeat Step-5

To install TWRP recovery on the phone, run:

    fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

Once the TWRP recovery is installed, type the command

    fastboot reboot

When the phone boots up successfully, use the following command to reboot into TWRP recovery mode

    adb reboot recovery

Go to the main menu of TWRP recovery, tap Install button and select UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.xx.zip

Confirm installation by sliding the confirmation slider and wait while the SuperSU file is installing

When the installation process is completed, select Reboot>> System and reboot the phone

OnePlus One should now be rooted successfully with TWRP recovery installed. Open SuperSU settings and uncheck Respect CM's root Policy option. You may now enjoy root apps, custom modes and custom firmware on your OnePlus One.
Also please no links to other root threads UNLESS mine does not work OR the user insists on a different way.

I believe you can just fastboot reboot recovery to just get into recovery after flashing twrp. Also, the latest SuperSU is v2.00 I believe

By the time I get my phone, it will hopefully appear on the Wugfresh tool kit. Then I can root it with the click of a button.

TWRP tends to get updated regularly. If you need to update it, I've found that Flashify works great. The alternative is connecting to a computer and downloading/fastboot flashing to the device

Awesome. Love it. So simple. thanks

It sure would be nice if Opo sold a phone with twrp and su already installed :).

I understand why they don't but they have to assume most of the people who are waiting for a opo now will be twrping it. (nothing against CWM but TWRP is most peoples favorite)
