I have the update downloaded via OTA. When I click install it just reboots, enters recovery, some error shows in the console and goes to TWRP home. Then if I reboot, it's still 38R. Any tips?

    Cheers,
    Cryzies

Well what's the error and what does it say? That's like asking me what's wrong with your car because there's a check engine light on the dash

I can't see, it tries unzipping some file, some red lines show up and changes to the TWRP home window. Anyway I can update and keep files?

Yikes, I don't know what's going on with that. Haven't read anything about that or seen that in person.

Updating from 38R to 44S does not wipe any files by itself, it's just a CM update.

I was referring to the posts above your initial, wouldn't flashing the roms wipe files?

If you modified any stock apps it will do that. I modified my MMS.apk app while I was on 38R. So when I tried to jump to 44S twrp listed an error and it was fabulously highlighted in red. Replaced my mms.apk to stock. Re-ran the OTA update and bam! It's good again.

Something about your core.odex was modified so it's not the same as original. I think for me I had to replace the mms.apk, and mms.odex files and copy them back into the dir before flashing would be completed.

So hopefully you remember any modifications you did to the stock system files.

    If not it's flashing time?

If I flashed in Cerberus and elevated it's permission to a system service, would that cause an issue?

Update replaced TWRP with CM recovery, and lost root. I'm at work without my ADB to fix it. Sad. ... Yes, I know to click off the Update CM Recovery in Developer Options as well, so don't even mention it! :p
