make sure nfc is turned on and tap the two devices together. Remember that the nfc antenna is near the top of the device. Just under the camera

Some phones tend to have issues sharing stuff via NFC. My old HTC M8 and my wifes Xperia Z3 don't always works. But I never had issues with my friends LG G3.

Send via Android Beam. Tap the camera of the OP3 against the active NFC area of the other device.

The NFC on my OP3 is not working.
NFC is enabled, android beam is enabled, there's no NFC icon on top bar, and I can't detect, tags, cards or phones... I have 3 days with the phone, very disappointed.

It doesn't sound like NFC is enabled. Are you just using the quick toggle from the pull down shade? Or going into Settings -> More... -> NFC and checking that it's on from there? If NFC is actually on, you SHOULD see the icon in your status bar.

The NFC chip (or whatever they call it) isn't at the centre. It is located somewhere around the camera, almost as if it's on the camera lens.
It is really an excellent location, it is far more convenient that other phones with NFC in the centre.

so the exact location for the NFC is on the left side of the camera if your facing the back of the phone for connection just enable NFC and but the device to parring state and but it on the top left side of the back next to camera the BT should start automatically when NFC readed the paired device (works like charm with sony SBH-20) if you have any type of case please put it away first

Please make an Option where you can enable NFC even with screen off.
I don't wanna unlock my device each time I use one of my NFC tags.

    Here on 3.5.3 & 3.2.7 nfc is working perfectly. . .

    I've sended a file through nfc beam. . .
It turned on Bluetooth automatically, sended the file and turned off the Bluetooth automatically . . .

Just open file Explorer select the file, hit ''share'', select Android beam and put the devices together. . .

Ps: I've used 2x op3 to test this, because I have no other devices with nfc:-(
    One on 3.5.3 & the other on 3.2.7 . . .

    Cheers :)

That's because you can't share via NFC alone. Its signal is too weak and slow for that.

What you CAN do is share things through Android Beam as many have already suggested it here. The NFC will be used for quickly pairing the two devices and Bluetooth (or in some cases Wi-Fi Direct) will take care of the rest.

I used Android Beam to share a video from my gf's (well, actually mine) Xperia Z3 to the OnePlus 3 literally 5 minutes ago and it worked like a charm from the first try.

Open file - tap Share (or share icon) - pick Android Beam - follow onscreen instructions (basically put the phones back to back until they vibrate, which they managed to do even with both phones having cases on them) - wait for the transfer to finish.

I can't test Android pay, because he in Germany its extremely rare, if available at all. . .
But nfc for data transfer is working on 3.5.3 . . . I've tested.

Ps: i know now why Android pay is not working on community builds, because these are not official builds :)
