I really like your way of doing business since it reminds me more of the social and responsible way than the capitalist way of planned obsolescence.

I really do hope that you are manufacturing your devices to withstand decades not just years, because that in itself is a promotion and marketing worthy of a small fortune.
If your devices can last and endure a lot that will go a long way with people since everyone wants a quality phone that won't bend in your pocket :D

good to know and great philosophy

I have just been told that the two is due for release in 2015, I understand that technology cannot stand still and will move forward, but I thought OP would concentrate on ironing out the issues with the One first before annoucing another phone to replace the One. If this is not the case, I apologsie. I am just a tiny bit annoyed to have just ordered the one and then been told that the two is on its way.

Also I have been looking at the threads and there is a common theme running through about the support not responding which is worrying. I believe for a new company to survive it is not just about having a great product but also backing it up the product with a good support infrastructure.

I do hope the support will get better and do understand that demand has increased and therefore can put strain on resources.

Best of luck, OnePlus! I'm seeing how, at least in Asia, this kind of expansion is now becoming the go-to strategy of alternative electronics brands. And so far, it's working. I hope you keep reaching out to your market, hyping your products online, and of course prioritizing product quality over marketing fluff.

Amazing strategy and planning! That's how all companies should think of. First comes the customer and his needs. Great job and keep up the good work! You have raised the bar extremely high!

they choose not to spend money on advertising ; that money saved is how they can sell it so cheap and still get money

I've always wondered how much money is spent on marketing and PR for the big companies and how much of a product's price is the advertising.

Does the company have a support period like other companies, i.e. will they only support the phone for 2-3yrs like samsung and apple?
