Agree to a point. They should have figured it out by now and scaled up and had their issues resolved. And if they couldn't do that, then they failed and need to make some changes.

Lots of people who need a phone and would want one, can't get their hands on one. Only people buying OnePlus 2 are fanboys and those that bought a One in the past and were able to get an invite.

Maybe there is a method to their madness but I just think they alienate and piss off potential customers who would love to get a phone. Any other phone you want, you can walk into a store and buy right away. People don't have time for BS games, they want their products yesterday.

I would rather take the extra costs in a phone that goes to marketing if it is actually available to buy rather than a poster on a website with some sneaky little invite system, we don't even know how many invites are given out.

I think though, that the invite system should be faster. OP might lose customer due to the waiting time.

Great to know. Except for the fact that if you wish to sell millions of devices in a year, you will have to be giving out more invites than you are presently. Also, absolutely necessary to respect new customers. OP's current approach is absolute disregard for new customers or "4th tier". If you piss someone off the first time, they are likely to never look at your brand again.

@Carl hefty insight regarding strategies of three. Apart from above if you set up production unit at India, it may bring down cost further. Also you may ask all members to develop Apps for three and further cost cutting ideas.
But we all need three to become a full fledged marketing personnel of three
