After spending time with the OP2, comparing it with my OPO, here is what I have observed:
1. Oxygen OS - Its simply not ready. This is the primary reason I cannot use the phone the way I need to. I am not a gamer, I don't use my phone for anything other than browsing, Instant Messaging and the occasional calls. I like my phone to do these things at blazing fast speeds and the Oneplus One is amazing at them. The Oneplus 2 has better hardware, but the Software hinders performance. My OnePlus 2 struggles with basic things like live wallpapers (You can see the low frame rate, vs CM12s on the OPO on the Phase Beam live wallpaper that comes standard on both phones). Maybe It cant handle the change in DPI (I use it at 360). This is one example, I have several others.
2. The Screen although may be brighter/Better needs calibration. Mine has a warm/reddish tint all over. There was no baked in solution to change this or calibrate. This, I expected would be a no brainer considering the yellow tint issues of the OPO. But the option does not exist. Also the Native launcher has trouble rendering crisp text. Third party launchers do a much sharper Job(Nova /Apex) So even though I like shelf, I cannot use it.
3. Camera Performance is Negligibly better than the OPO. I took a few low light pictures and I find that the OP2 has better dynamic range and performs marginally better in that department. I do not see any benefit of the laser autofocus, the native camera app is still slower than my OPO. In very low light pictures, There are instances where the OPO took better pictures.
4. The loud speaker is probably of better quality but I dont like the reduction in sound. Its less loud and discernibly so than the OPO.
5. Heat - Yes it does get warmer than the OPO and you can feel it on the metal frame.
All of this was without putting a SIM in.
I love the OnePlus One and I am sticking by it. As per my experience, Better software on It makes it superior to the OP2 even now for me.
I will wait till the Next Oneplus Phone as I like the Ideology behind the line. But the OP2, In my experience, could not kill its own predecessor, never mind any other flagship due in the future.
P.S this is a duplicate of a similarly titled thread in the India section. I wanted to post It here, but landed up posting in the wrong section. I Request the mods to delete the other or merge with this thread.
